I will be singing this album’s praises forever. Ambitious and charismatic, BTS’ newest album is a masterwork of modern pop and deserving of the GRAMMY for Album of the Year. Ambitious and charismatic, BTS’ newest album is a masterwork of modern pop and deserving of the GRAMMY for Album of the Year. Like its excellent predecessors, this new offering is meticulously crafted - the melodies are strong, the beats are pounding, and the production quality is flawless; simply put, they once again make pop perfection look easy and have made what will be seen as a landmark, history-making album. The album’s breadth, and its effortless blend of R&B, rap, and dance confidently rival the works of previous golden ages of pop. At a sprawling 20 tracks, the album contains some truly uplifting, emotional, and epic moments - the masterpieces “Friends” and “Outro” produce chills when you hear the assembly of voices come in. This is Blockbuster pop on a whole new level - a level of musical expertise you don’t see anymore. As an entire package it’s possibly the most important pop record since Taylor Swift’s 1989. Expand

Quite a challenge for a predominantly non-english album to garner the international acclaim it has, but the catchy beat and constant reinvention of the group's sound, introduction of varied influences in the musical elements and the soul-baring lyrics is enough to catch the attention of acurious and dare I say, doubtful Thomas and Jane out there. Its safe to say, I am a new fan.

Her voice is a bit jarring on the track but it's not enough of a problem to affect the overall score. Expand

The two parts of the album are complementary, building a solid work. The lyrics are sensitive, leading the project to flow delicatelly. It shows the magnificience of this band as the greatest teen pop act currently.
An addendum: I felt that Namjoon looks a little dejected, unlike his typical attitude-filled behavior.

bts's best album to date. they keep innovating themselves every single comeback and pushing the boundaries of genres, 7 is a perfect mix of everything one enjoys in music. the lyrics are the stand-out, it's a highly personal adventure through their seven year career and they should be proud of everything they've achieved including this masterpiece. bravo. 10/10.

The ultimate BTS album. They shine individually, as subunits and as a group of 7. It's a fun yet sincere map of their history as a group. Topics from older songs are brought back and responded to, while also presenting new ideas and challenging previous concepts. It also showcases their versatility in terms of genres. BTS can't be contained in just one box, they've grown bigger and better.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This MOTS: 7 album shows a clearly visible maturity of BTS over these 7 years, but what surprised me the most is that the sound of this album has nothing to do with what I've heard from BTS before and I loved it. This album is simply impeccable and in my view, it surpassed the incredible construction of the also acclaimed WINGS album. Congratulations BTS, you did an amazing team work on this album. My favorite song is Louder Than Bombs, it's amazing. Expand

As a whole, the strong but not particularly unruly “7” is less sure-footed than “Love Yourself: Tear,” the group’s last full-length, from 2018, and the first K-pop album to debut atop the Billboard album chart.

Taut and primal, “MOTS: 7” is a kind of self-referential homage. ... Each get solo turns to shine here, their collective work is what stands out.

Persona lacked the natural fluidity and chicness of their best music. Those problems aren’t exactly mitigated here, since most of those songs appear on this album too, but within this new context, they feel like a flashback before the saga continues. Many of the new songs are better about balancing Easter eggs for day-ones with new entry points for more casual listeners.
