    For a Taylor Swift album, I’m honestly underwhelmed. It feels like it’s stuck in the world of folklore mixed with lover and things just sound off at times.

    It is a good album but compared to her other albums this one doesn’t seem strong. I do hope it grows on me tho, I miss her 1989 and rep eras

    It puts the MID in midnights. The album is not cohesive and fully structured " pop album". I am lost of what she is trying to put. Maybe she needs another producer aside from Jack. Her songwriting trying to be different and edgy. This album is not for me.

However, with the release of her newest album 'Midnights', I question if she's a workaholic that'll continue to pump out quality work.

    Midnights reminds me of an artist that is confused. Multiple    Taylor Swift just seems to be pumping out work lately: multiple singles this year, two new albums in 2020, and remastered versions of her classics; she seems to be an absolute workaholic. However, with the release of her newest album 'Midnights', I question if she's a workaholic that'll continue to pump out quality work.

    Midnights reminds me of an artist that is confused. Multiple tracks on this album sound like Taylor simply stopped caring and wrote whatever came to mind first without going back to revise it later. For example, "Karma", one of the nicer tracks on the album in terms of production, lacks cohesive songwriting. "Karma is my boyfriend" and "Karma is a cat" are weird and oddly specific ways to describe her connection and belief in karma. Despite the cringy songwriting, the track comes through with wonderfully airy, light, cute, and catchy production.

    A track that stood out to me, in all the wrong ways possible, was "Snow on the Beach". Personally, I absolutely hated the line "And it's like snow at the beach, weird but it was beautiful" as it sounded odd and a forced attempt to be quirky for Taylor. It sounded like Taylor had that idea suddenly pop into her head, wrote it down, and went for it without any more questions. On top of that, Lana Del Ray's so-called "feature" is nonexistent on this track as her vocals are buried behind Taylor's. This is not a feature for Lana. Lana acts as Taylor's backing vocals throughout the entirety of the track.

    The opener for the album, "Lavender Haze" is one of the more forgettable tracks as it's simply hazy and bland. This track has some potential, but Taylor ignored to act on it.

    "Anti-hero" is one of my least favorites as it's almost too poppy and radio sounding. It's obvious Taylor wanted this to be the stand-out and most listened-to single from the album, but it's simply soulless and boring, however, contains decent songwriting.

    "Midnight Rain" comes off as another attempt for Taylor to show her quirkiness. Taylor tries to use the wavy, auto-tuney-sounding vocal effect as an art form here, but it comes off as goofy and out of pocket.

    "Question...?" is a questionable track. The vocals sound like they were mixed by a person who's never mixed vocals before as they are messily mixed and seem rushed. However, there is a moment of hope in the bridge with Taylor's great flow and pacing there. The songwriting is also decent and straightforward.

    Moving away from the forgettable tracks, a few of my favorites were "Vigilante **** with its bass and self-confident lyrics, "Labyrinth" with its slightly EDM-inspired production and great synths, "Sweet Nothing" with its intimacy and improved vocal mix, and finally, the closer "Mastermind", which is my personal favorite, with its delightful storytelling of reflection and realization and lovely synths.

    'Midnights' had potential that Taylor failed to grab. The production is all over the place, sounding messy at times and somehow too clean at other times. Through the mess, however, Taylor still holds onto her incredible talent and ability to tell a story and paint a picture through her writing, which shined through a few tracks on this project.    … Expand

    She does nothing wrong here, the production is very professional and well done, but it feels like she's more focused on an overall sound rather than keeping each track engaging, resulting in a listening experience that could be tedious and even monotonous.

    Well the artwork gave the the vibes of 1989 album. I can't say it's a bad album because it's not bad, but also I can't say it's her best. 1989 is still her best album.

    So, removing the superfan-coloured glasses and listening to this album on it's own merits, to me it really is a letdown. There are some nice sounds for sure, and the production is clean. However, I found this to be overwhelmingly...blah. Just kind of boring, several of the songs sound too similar to really tell them apart. To me the 5 rating is perfect, it's about the lowest that Taylor will ever get, she's just too talented to get lower, but this album offers nothing new or exciting.     Even though she styles herself as honest, her actual performance is never vulnerable enough for me to really connect.    I get why people like Taylor Swift. Her lyrics are clearly personal, fairly unique, and relatable for a lot of people, but not me. I don't know what it is but she almost always leaves me emotionally cold, and I am someone that regularly gets chills listening to music.

    Even though she styles herself as honest, her actual performance is never vulnerable enough for me to really connect. I'm sure she has it in her, so I always check out her new stuff to see if it happens this time.

    Production wise, it's very cool - too cool. Not varied enough for me, but it is coherent and doesn't distract from the vocals too much, so this isn't a major issue.

    Karma is very very catchy, I **** love it. It's also very peppy, and plays to Swift's strengths. I enjoyed the reference to Lykke Li too.    … Expand

    This is the first Taylor swift album I have listened to in its entirety, and if I were to sum it up, its exactly what I expected. It lacks in substance and plays it very safe with its generic and monotonous sounding tracks, the lyricism is nothing to write home about and the instrumentation is adequate at best. Despite this, it didn't leave me pissed off, however it was deeply rooted inThis is the first Taylor swift album I have listened to in its entirety, and if I were to sum it up, its exactly what I expected.     This album is a copy/paste of the sounds of several current/trendy artists and haphazardly put together with some, at times, cringy lyrics. Sure, there are some standout songs (especially the 3am bonus tracks release), but I don’t love this as much as her previous works.     Not to mention how empty, meaningless and out of touch the chorus is, how choppy the ending is, and the fact that, like NEARLY EVERY OTHER SONG on the album, the sounds and styles are entirely copied off of Lana Del Rey, but without the harshness of voice or themes that make her so appealing.

    Ultimately, its yet another disappointing project from Taylor Swift, and the question of why she makes music at such a rapid pace remains. This album shows promise, but the uninspired production and underwritten lyrical performances brings it down to a sub par level. IMO, she should probably get a few fresh faces in the writers' room for her next album.    … Expand

    Same vocal energy during the whole album, too monotonous. Good production though, with some interesting bases. Lyrics are good in general as usual with Taylor. However I don’t think we find something new, I hope it gets better with the visual concepts.

    I absolutely love Taylor Swift but this album didn't do it for me. While there were some good songs like Maroon and Anti-Hero, most of the tracks I found disappointing and quite frankly, boring. I think this may be one of her weakest albums to date, recycling the same themes from previous albums, and seemingly recycling the vibes as well.

It would have been better received in succession to that 2019 record but now it feels quite under baked. From the clunky lyrics that uncharacteristically burden a sizeable portion of the record to the productions missteps. Even so "Midnights" is a love letter to her fans, a treat that tries to reassure them that she can return to pop whenever she wishes and though she proves so she accidentally suggest none of returns to the sound will resonate . Nonetheless the Janet Jackson(snow on the beach) references,vulnerability (you are on your own kid)and ambitious(vigilante **** ) still make this a win for Swift and a repayable transitional statement to Swifts abundance .     Another masterclass on writing and taking the listener on a journey. This album is the departure of the folklore forest and return to the synth pop love of 1989 and Lover. As a swiftie since the debut. I love it

    In general it is a well written and produced album, but it lacks maturity and it sounds like something Olivia Rodrigo or these new pop girlies in their new-20s could make, so it doesn't deserve as much recognition as it is getting and it doesn't deserve a higher rating than this.

    Love all previous works of TS but this album is a huge disappointment. Cover does not suite to the sound. Me (so as everybody else) expected alternative rock/pop, but we got a modern pop. It's just Melodrama (Lorde) + WWAFAWDWG (Billie Ealish). Lyrics are bad and not interesting. Compare to the lyrics from Folkmore this is a regression. Very very upset

    Embracing a more experimental pop field - synth-pop, Swift tries to do something better - but I don't think she can. Overall, most of these songs are boring and repetitive - despite very well written, as usual. It's a shame that this was the root she chose after the brilliant "Folklore".

    The tracks (especially at the start) begin to get boring— could barely get myself to listen to the rest of the album. Lavender Haze and Vigilante **** are the only reason why I’m rating this higher. This just doesn’t scream “Taylor!” to me, but who am I to judge.

    I can’t get enough of this album. I hear district characters, emotions, memories and nostalgic attachments that onto Taylor can ever truly encompass in words. The voice of our generation and the next - Absolutely 13/10!!!!!!!!!!

    Taylor Swift rehashes old songs in her tenth studio album Midnights. What can be praised as an interesting and original concept gets lost in a haze of synth and distortions. While there are some standouts, (Sweet Nothing and High Infidelity bring some texture), the murky pop score and standard breathy vocals bleed and blur each song together into a haze of vague sweetness. For such a raw album it is remarkably over-produced. The lyrics, while clever, lack the intricacies of her two preceding sister albums, and instead re-visit the bitterness of Reputation and the heartbreak of albums like Red. The mature lens on these past themes of heartbreak, revenge, betrayal, regret, and privilege, is appreciated, as there seems to be a more well-rounded perspective on life, subduing the idealism that was once rampant in her works. This however does not save the cliches and corny lines from creeping their way in, this time accompanied by a curse word or two, that by no means detract from the songs, but instead contribute to the fog that is an album that wants to be everything at once. This album sucks the personality out of the songwriting, squishing it in between synthesizer, muted keys, and computerized drum sets. All in all, this album is by no means a failure, but instead, an addition that neither offends nor compels the listener.… Expand

    As a fan, I'm not sure if I really liked it. There are EXCELLENT songs (Midnight rain, Maroon, Lavender Haze, Karma, You're on your own, kid), however some of these tracks sound quite the same. Still enjoyed 90% of the album, just disappointed with this one-note production mixed with enhancing lyrics.

    Sin embargo, el álbum se siente como una calca de sus anteriores trabajos, específicamente con Lover y Folklore, intentando imitar sus sonidos característicos, algo así como un collage de recopilados de piezas descartadas de estos.
    Imitando de manera arcaica lo que hizo especial a estas obras.
    Lo más decepcionante fue sin duda la colaboración con Lana del Rey, si se le puede llamar así; no fueron un dúo, Lana fue puesta como un adorno, ni siquiera eso; no hay una mezcla de esencias, solo otra canción mas del álbum con un sampleo de la voz de Lana.    … Expand

Quando vemos a imagem promovida por Taylor podemos esperar um álbum feroz, ousado, talvez um retorno à sua faceta sombria mostrada na era Reputation, mas o que recebemos aqui é um complicado de canções melodramáticas e sonolentas, um tanto contidas e bem aquém do padrão estabelecido entre Folklore e Evermore. Com excessão do lead, Anti Hero,Eis aqui o álbum que não faz jus a sua capa. Quando vemos a imagem promovida por Taylor podemos esperar um álbum feroz, ousado, talvez um retorno à sua faceta sombria mostrada na era Reputation, mas o que recebemos aqui é um complicado de canções melodramáticas e sonolentas, um tanto contidas e bem aquém do padrão estabelecido entre Folklore e Evermore.     Probably, one of this year’s “better” Albums, but definitely not one of the bests, because 2022 gave us some really great Albums. I can see this on my Top 15 Albums of 2022, but, probably not gonna be on my Top 5 that’s for sure. This Album is in between, mediocre, and probably will soon be considered as one of Swift’s lesser Album. A good show, but it’s just not cutting it.

    El álbum es bien aburrido, todas las canciones dicen lo mismo, pero es muy digerible, lo puedes escuchar de fondo y la verdad no es pesado, dependiendo tus gustos obviamente, pero como álbum la verdad no se me hace algo bueno, simplemente lo veo como un álbum más, si no fuese porque es de Taylor Swift la gente ya lo odiaría.

    Si soy franco, no es un mal álbum, pero creo que está lejos de superar al menos a su top 3 de su discografía, las pistas suelen tener una melodía y letra repetitiva vista anteriormente en sus otras obras al punto en donde puede llegar a aburrir.

Hoping for another folklore/evermore album, left with an upbeat, yet somehow heartbreaking, pop album. It just reminded us that she is a corny millennial. I, however, am glad she opened up about her past traumas a lot more in this album. And the love songs, so exquisite. The concept of using “Midnights” to bring the good parts of her previous work, along with her back-to-getting-personal works well. Albeit with few lyrics which don’t make sense directly, Midnights is a combination of smart as well as lightweight songwriting.

    Just normal Taylor Swift music with cringy lyrics, unappealing interjections, strange tone changes, weird use of spoken word, and nothing original. Her voice is generally appealing at least. She's definitely more of a celebrity singer than a good artist imo, I feel that most artists would get flamed if they released music this average or poor. But it's not quite ALL bad

People will just throw around ten like it's nothing, but even my favorite artist I would only give one of his albums a ten (kendrick lamar.) The lyrics don't quite scratch that relatability of her old music or the depths of her newer folk inspired music. This puts her in a weird limbo of reliability and depth that does not work. Taylor's vocals are never that great in her pop inspired productions which again puts her in a poor space. If people did not overhype this I bet I would have appreciated it more.… Expand

There is no strong or impressive component in this album, which is not the case for her other albums.     Um bom album do gênero pop, porém falha em vário pontos, que a própia taylor já tinha acertado em albums anteriores, a mistura de "gêneros" no album deixa mais interessante de ouvir de uma única só vez criando uma harmonia entre as músicas, que se quebrar essa harmonia deixam as músicas mais entendiantes e enroladas.
    Por isso minha nota média.

    Definitivamente não ruim mas não é bom.
    A escrita de Swift em determinados momentos como em karma,aonde ela acha bom escrever " karma is cat" se repente em bejeweled.
    É claro Taylor Swift quando escreve pop algumas vezes tende a ser superficial.

    I expected a lot more from the album after works like folklore and evermore. While I did enjoy a few songs such as snow on the beach, Maroon, Labyrinth and Midnight rain, the rest felt pretty similar. The songs sounded pretty same in not a good way.
