New Gen is a compilation album that is very lengthy, and ends up being a hit or miss. The sad part of this album, is that when it misses, it misses pretty hard. These songs are greatly varied from each other and the different styles create an album flow that doesn't really work with 17 songs. I would end up skipping some songs because they just mess up the mood of the album.

On the plus side, when this album hits, BOY DOES IT HIT. Songs like "Jacket" and "Man of the Hour" seem to be fan favorites and the most popular songs on this album, and while these songs are pretty good. Songs like "Ring the Alarm" and "Flexing" showcase the true beauty of this album. These two songs are composed well and captivate a groove that really sets the mood of this album and creates the true rhythm of this compilation.

But the highlight for myself is "My Ways". This track is straight fire. This jam isn't a hype song like "Flexing" or "Man of the Hour". but the lyrics, beat, and rhythm and the R&B-esque track creates a captivating song that flows exceptionally well.

This record may not be perfect, and may not be for everyone, but fans of Hip-Hop, R&B, and Grime can find some beauty in certain tracks that create curiosity on the future of these aspiring artists

It’s a compilation that doesn’t merely compile; these tunes were laid down specifically for the project, taking cues from US trap sounds as well as London’s Caribbean forms.

At 17 tracks, it covers a lot of ground and not every track is a winner, but there's a decent number of promising artists here.

Everyone will have their own favourites. It’s just a blessing that picking one will prove so difficult.
