Good and bad !! The Good- the Promise of the Real is a better band than Crazy Horse in terms of harmony and backing vocals, so the non-grunge songs really take off in concert. I saw Neal and the POR and they sounded great in concert, I was looking forward to a live release.
The Bad- while the set list used on the CD is great I can say the opposite for the sound. It sounds like an audience

The Bad- while the set list used on the CD is great I can say the opposite for the sound. It sounds like an audience recording, not even a good soundboard. I thought that Neil was so into top notch sonically great audio recordings but this one is just the opposite. Really poor sound, barely distinguish the backing vocals and very muddy instruments throughout. I luv ya Neil, but the sound sucks !!!

What makes it great is something else - an energy and a vibe that give the strange sensation you're there with them. [Oct 2022, p.84]

Promise of the Real give Noise & Flowers the muscle the music needs, which means the album never sounds nostalgic or stiff: it's a warm celebration of the music made while Elliot Roberts stood by Neil Young's side.

The album is more of a celebration than a wake, thanks to the Promise Of The Real’s youthful exuberance and Young’s own ageless spirit. [Sep 2022, p.32]
