Maybe it just requires a few more plays, but I'm not feeling this album like the first two. And live, the songs just don't pop the same way. I'm not giving up on them but they're not helping themselves.

Meh, it's quite good. It's been a downhill slope since Employment but it certainly deserves more than the average of 2.8 people have given it (probably who have only heard weak opener Never Miss A Beat). Ronson hasn't killed it quite as much as I expected, but Kaisers aren't giving him much to work with here. They're a bit of a parody of themselves these days: Meh, it's quite good. 1. Half-knowing, half-full of anthems and lyrically halfway to hell, Off With Their Heads is musically halfway there. Kaisers have barely missed a beat on the highway to massive-dom, but they’re hardly raising our heart rates.

Off With Their Heads affirms the undying pleasures of smart, catchy pop music does well. [Oct 2008, p.137]
  3. Mostly band and producer Mark Ronson have done what both parties needed to do in late 2008: avoid the ordinary and obvious, namely glossy stadium-indie and retro-soul horns respectively, and aim for the extraordinary.
