From word one to the closing synth note signifying The End, Pacifica is a literary and musical sensation worthy of true scholarly attention.

While the murky atmosphere and late-night pulse of songs like "Push" and "Fast Seconds," might not immediately scream fun, there's something undeniably engaging about them.

It can feel on occasion like being rhythmically walloped round the head with a history book, but when Hamilton properly locks into the immediacy of his and Kim Moyes's immense electronic grooves, its undeniably powerful. [Nov 2013, p.114]

Across Six Leap Years serves the weirdest of purposes, pleasing (presumably) both band and fans. Many of these reworks are so slightly different as to possibly only truly satisfy the former, but no matter.

While debut ‘Beams’ was a bubbling, unpredictable electronic masterpiece, second album ‘Apocalypso’ was a dancefloor smashing, out-Fischerspoonering affair, Pacifica stands as a wildly temperamental compromise between those two drunk on a peculiar addiction to mainstream action.

It’s not awful, just bland, and lacks the bite that electro-pop records need to be lifted out of the purgatory that is mediocrity.

There's no denying the monstrous likes of "AO" and "Fast Seconds" are well constructed, but they're little more than assemblages of over-familiar parts. [Nov 2013, p.78]

It's a perfectly satisfactory album, but save for one or two moments of brilliance, there's nothing here that will keep you coming back for more.

If listening to sentimental techno ballads about giving up the days of tits and cocaine is what you want to do with an hour of your time, look no further.

Pacifica is an absolute treat to listen to, from stat to finish, between intense beats in A.O. and Youth in Trouble and lighter tunes in Ghosts and If I Know You, every song is kept fresh while still keeping the distinctive Presets sound. A solid 10/10 album, a gift for your ears.
