an album that didn't receive the recognition it should have by the critics. Ariana, i'm super proud and i loved this one. although it isn't as cohesive as your last two albums, it has zero skips. loved it.

I enjoyed the intimate, sensual theme running through all the tracks and I think Ariana did a great job thematically linking everything. There is the important thing, it is not how long you have been in the fandom, if not knowing that his greatest inspiration was Mariah Carey and Aretha Franklin, one of his favorite genres is R&B and with this album he wanted to do things well, that's why it's a mix from the minimal r & b and pop of those golden ages.

This album is great it is very cohesive, I don't particularly like the HUGE number of composers in the songs, however it is very well produced Ariana's vocals are great and the lyrics are very mature (better than thank u, next), best song is my hair (it reminded me a lot of Mariah Carey in the 2000s) and the worst is love language is not a memorable track.

This album is unlike any music Ariana has produced and released before. Her vocals throughout the album do not disappoint and her lyrics contain so much emotion and experience. For some, if may be repetitive and it may need to grow on some, but its not like her general pop records and it introduces lots of R&B elements. This album is impeccable. A cultural reset.

this album is exquisite. i really don’t understand why it isn’t receiving better reviews. i feel like people either haven’t given it a chance or that that they prefer a more pop sound. i had a feeling i was going to like this one, especially when i had heard it was going to be a lot more R&B. in my opinion it’s a step up from tu,n and is very much ariana, it’s fun, mature and upbeat. i’vethis album is exquisite. i really don’t understand why it isn’t receiving better reviews. i feel like people either haven’t given it a chance or that that they prefer a more pop sound. i had a feeling i was going to like this one, especially when i had heard it was going to be a lot more R&B. in my opinion it’s a step up from tu,n and is very much ariana, it’s fun, mature and upbeat. i’ve noticed too that the more i listen to it the better it gets. i’m really excited for this era tbh and can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us. i’m overall so proud and happy to see her healing, her confidence growing and she just seems a lot happier than before. my girl is back Expand

Ariana showed growth during the past three eras. I am very proud of her growth lyrically and mentally. She uses heavy R&B sounds throughout the album and also hints of Pop and Trap. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly I love this album, it is well produced vocally and in instrumentals, she served vocals and tried to differentiate it from other albums, but it still hasn't left her comfort zone, as it sinned in tracks that deserved much more as a "safety net", "west side" and "love language". Anyway, we cannot deny that she served VOCALS, taking as examples of this the various powerful whistles that she managed to execute in tracks like "my hair", "positions", "nasty" and even "safety net". even though it was pleasant for me, unfortunately the album has very few tracks that please EVERYONE at the beginning, for example I didn’t sympathize with several tracks, and today I really like them, I think it must be a matter of listening multiple times. Anyway, with that I finish my honest review of the album (I am 100% aware that my opinion is very different from the opinion of other people because I am a fan of Ariana.) Expand

Let's just say it was beautiful. From the cheeky intro 'shut up' to the powerful ballad of pov, ending it off. This album was beautiful.

Lyrically, the album is extremely clever, with the double enteandres managing to uplift both the more risqué songs along with the deeper tracks as well. The honesty and vulnerability displayed in this album does a great job of generating relatibility. From the endearing lyrics of pov,, to the brutally hones ones of 'shut up', you can't help but love the honesty of it all.

Musically, Ariana and her producers managed to do something absolutely masterful. The ever present violins grounding each sing and string together the variety of sounds used. The actual songs themselves are nothing to scoff at either. From the scintillating sound of 'just like magic' to the hauntingly beautiful sounds of "safety net": everything is great. Speaking of......

The features on this album did a phenomenal job. Doja's verse on 'motive' added new flavour to the song. Ty Dolla seemed to perfectly read exactly what 'safety net' needed, and managed to compliment Ariana's voice almost as well as the Weeknd. Which brings me to the final feature track. "Off the table is what many a musician would consider a masterpiece. The simple arrangement only aids this song, where the vocals are the driving factor. The lyrical back and forth created is both genius and melancholic in meaning. The lyrics are then amplified by a awe inspiring vocal showcase from Ari. The Weeknd tone manages to create a beautiful chemistry and harmony with Ariana (as well as making it seem he didn't get out sung, which he kinda did

Track 1 (shut up) wasn't the best song the chorus was meh, but love the beginning, just wish the chorus was what it was. Track 2 (34+35) this song was this best single to the album, love the spicy lyrics to the track, and the ending. Track 3 (Motive ft. Doja Cat) this song was the best collaboration on the album, wish it was longer tho. Track 4 (Just like Magic) I love the story telling to this track the tribute to her ex mac (rip) love the vibe it gives the motivation it gives. Track 5 (off the table ft. The Weeknd) This is my least favorite collaboration the have done because of the bass drum in this song, it annoys me, but there the best duo to exist no doubt. Track 6 (six thirty) one thing this album does is the references the title tracks did, that's really creative, I like the bridge to this song so much, and live the Violins in there too! Track 7 (safety net ft. Ty Dolla $ign) this is top 3 on this album, they need another collaboration, this so a masterpiece, the bridge makes it so much better! Track 8 (my hair) this song is a vibe the whistle tones shocked me and the jazz feel make it soooo unique. Track 9 (nasty) this song is the type of song u listen to and look at the mirror and feel urself, love the bridge! Track 10 (west side) this song gave what it needs to give, the slow and chill song, there's no bridge but it didn't need one to be great. Track 11 ( love language) this song is the most unique song and wried to me, I don't vibe with this song, it's not for me. Track 12 (Positions) this is the perfect song to introduce the positions era, the r&b feel and vibe just chefs kiss. Track 13 obvious ( this is one of the best song on the album, love Everything about it the hook the flow she has, everything! Track 14 (POV) this song is perfect In every way!!!! -deluxe track 15( some one like u) this song is like west side chill but gave what it needed to give. Track 16 (test drive) this song is a nice track to like to in the car and that's pretty much it. Track 17( remix 34+35 ft.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

I have mixed opinions about this album, because it has not as many true bangers like Sweetener and Thank u, next, and isn't as round of an album overall as Thank u, next, if you know what I mean. Ariana moved on to make RnB-like or just straight up RnB songs and it sounds awesome. The lyrics of her earlier albums caught me more, they just felt EVEN MORE personal than those on PositionsI have mixed opinions about this album, because it has not as many true bangers like Sweetener and Thank u, next, and isn't as round of an album overall as Thank u, next, if you know what I mean. The lyrics of her earlier albums caught me more, they just felt EVEN MORE personal than those on Positions (especially Sweetener and TUN). The production is the best yet, it's well made. But there are not that many songs with the potential to be "all time favorites" since there are many mediocre songs. The songs that slap the most are: just like magic, positions, pov, off the table, safety net and my hair. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really loved the Positions album but it may not be her best work. My favourite songs from this album are motive, 34+35 and nasty because they are the actual bops. My least favourite song from this album is shut up because I find the lyrics of the song very annoying and bothering. I think Ariana Grande did a great job delivering a mid tempo R&B and trap-pop album and I loved her impeccable vocals so much. I loved the collaborations from this album especially The Weeknd and Doja Cat. Her last two albums, Thank U, Next and Sweetener were the masterpieces of Ariana Grande’s music career. Expand

A strong album with a few skips for me personally like "shut up" and "34+35" but also contains some of her best songs to date like "love language" "safety net" and "pov"

Great Album. Love Arianas voices. Some songs have repetive hooks. That’s my only complaint. Great overall, top 3 overall are off the table, shut up, and this is magic

Ariana surely belted out notes that the angels can hear in the heavens, except the angels have heard that same style in her last 2 albums. This style suits her well, but it's one of her weakest bodies of work.

I hate that cover lmao but the album itself is very on par with her previous work, not sure why it fell between the chairs like it did. For my hoe ass that loves upbeat bubble pop songs - it was the overhated yet infectious 34+35 that stole my heart from the very first listen. I LOVED my hair and love language, to complete a respectable top 3. There are some fillers (uhm, just like magic) but u know that saying about trash and treasure lmao. I think every ariana fan can love this album, it has a lot to offer. Expand

Here Ariana’s dreamy vocals intertwine perfectly with the string-influenced instrumentals. The songs perpetuate the feeling of being in love and I get emotional just listening to them. Though a few of these songs are not her greatest feats of lyricism, the good greatly outweighs the bad, and the lyrics that aren’t as complex are often wonderfully playful and affectionate.

not her best work but still not bad tbh expected a little more for ag6 it's really cohesive tho
best songs on the album for me are 34+35,pov, obvious and motive
it's kinda this pop/rnb thing and I wish she just went the full rnb way I think she would do it really well still a good solid album

While the album delivers an array of feelings complemented by a mellow and sexy tone in Ariana's voice, it considerably lacks cohesion and structure. It is structurally and productively comparable to Dangerous Woman, though it is definitely not Ariana's most vocally exploitative work.

Personally, this is a grower and gets better after each listen. It’s something different, however, a lot of the songs sound very similar. Saying that, a majority of the lyrics are great and her vocals are insane. The meaning behind the album is amazing but at the moment, Dangerous Woman, Sweetener and Thank U, Next still remain my top 3 albums.

As an Arianator myself, been stanning since 2014, this album was amazing... was it her best.... no, but it definitely was a good album that’s worth listening to. Songs like POV, Safety Net, Nasty, My Hair, Motive and Love Language give this album so much power whereas songs like Shut Up and Six Thirty are easily forgettable and make the album fall short.

Grande is making no effort to be discreet, instead explicitly owning her sexuality—the album is called Positions, after all. The juxtaposition of beautiful violin sounds and risqué lyrics has become one of Grande’s signature sounds, and it suits her well.

Grande laid bare may well be seen as a stopgap in her canon, using taboo to checkmate her past trauma, but it does pull off the rare feat of at least sounding effortless.

With little conflict and few psychological insights, Positions zeroes in on the enviable confidence that only pop stars on top of the world and with nothing to lose can afford. It's easy to write it off as empty calories, but pop has always been described in such terms: cake, candy, chocolate, confection. Positions isn't a "sweetener" but pure sugar.
