Apr 29, 2013Gruff’s gorgeous voice helps humanise Feltrinelli. Never more so than on “Hoops With Fidel”, which, rather than demonising him and Castro, conveys the ideal of international revolution as a beautiful thing. As beautiful, in fact, as this album.
-
Apr 26, 2013Praxis Makes Perfect only suffers in comparison to its predecessor in that it lacks a clear standout track in the same vein as Stainless Style’s ‘I Told Her On Alderaan’, but it works better as a cohesive record.
-
May 7, 2013The appeal of the album lies in its musicianship and perfect production.
-
Apr 26, 2013Lacking both the complexity of the Super Furry Animals' playful psychedelia or the intimate warmth of Rhys’ solo work, it’s nevertheless an appealing curio and trailblazer in the small sphere of biographical concept albums.
-
May 6, 2013The record alone makes for the latest solid effort from these two outsize talents, but the stage show ought to be the ideal way to enjoy it
-
Apr 29, 2013What Praxis Makes Perfect might lack in fresh musical directions--their percolating analogue-digital pop remains little altered--it makes up for in apposite italophile detail.
-
May 1, 2013Praxis’ songs are too closely tied to their subject to work outside of the album in any notable context, which leaves us with the album itself--a confused mess of synth noodlings and half-formed ideas.
