There are great moments here, particularly a spare, powerful reworking of Talking Heads' "Listening Wind," and the participants never sound less than sincere, but coming from a band whose heritage includes "Ghost Town," "Doesn't Make It Alright," and "It's Up To You," Protest Songs 1924-2012 never quite reaches its potential.

Results range from the radio-friendly but obvious to the obscure but not a word out of place. [Oct 2021, p.96]

you are clearly clueless as yOu say ''British trio of Terry Hall, Lynval Golding and Horace Panter ''

since when were the specials a trio? Terry Hall, Lynval Golding and Horace Panter actually left the specials in the early 80's to form the trio fun boy three. yes, they LEFT the specials, who continued to create great music without the 'trio'.
they 'trio' you mention rejoined the specials many years later and yes are involved in this but THE SPECIALS ARE NOT A TRIO'!
