I love how she's just putting a big L in scooter's face. Absolute queen for taking whats rightfully hers. This album has possibly the best lyrics of Taylor Swift albums. This is a classic album that WILL go down in history. It's rare you find an album that doesn't get boring and replayed in the middle or at the end.

This new version of Red (Taylor's Version) is a true definition of art in music. The lyrics are a masterpiece of a writer's mind. Early days, I'm hearing a really good pop album that could possibly do with some trimming down. While there are certainly no throwaway tracks on the album, I would argue that "Red" lacks the killer instinct in terms of songwriting that Swift would develop later in her career. I have a feeling I will get more into this the more I listen to it but for now it doesn't get near my top 3 TS albums. Expand

During her grand endeavour to rerecord her stolen masterpieces, Taylor managed to pull something massive off - perfecting an already perfect record. Critics were much too harsh back in 2012, mostly fueled by misogyny and criticising with the public's harsh view of the popstar. But Red (TV) was a chance to give her work the acclaim it deserves. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Swift's re-recording of this album is anything I ever could have wanted and more. The vocals on all songs initially present on the 2012 version are evidently better and more refined, whilst its "(From The Vault)" were all sensational, and I cannot fathom how it has taken nine years for the world to hear the masterpieces that make it complete.

I furthermore believe the "(From The Vault)" songs perfectly encapsulate what Swift's "Red" era was more than the original album ever could; "All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault)" showcases her vulnerability in a toxic relationship with a power dynamic conceived to exploit her, in a truly saddening, heart-wrenching, nuanced storytelling fashion, and somehow lasts a full ten minutes without seeming repetitive or boring to the listener – fully immersing them in her traumatic experience and her narrative. Additionally, other songs, such as "Message In A Bottle (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault)" having a more dance-pop, "1989"-esque sound illustrate how restrictive Big Machine Records (her former label) were of the music Swift released, and how tentative they were in her transition to pop from country music throughout her "Red" era.

Overall, this album is truly a masterpiece, as it both allows us to reminisce on the nostalgia of music Swift released nearly a decade ago, whilst still being more emotional, vulnerable and wonderfully chaotic than before. Her lyricism is brilliant and enticing, only further matched by her matured vocals. It's spectacular.

Red (Taylor's Version) has good and bad days. While over the past decade Swift has undeniably strengthened her vocals, producing a more level and mature sound, the emotion and vulnerability has gotten lost in translation. While over the past decade Swift has undeniably strengthened her vocals, producing a more level and mature sound, the emotion and vulnerability has gotten lost in translation. Prior to Swift's 2020 releases, Red had been one of my favorite albums for a long time. Songs like Sad Beautiful Tragic and State of Grace had lyrics that expressed new and heartbreaking love affairs in the best way, but it was really Swift's young voice that sold it all. Don't get me wrong, Red (Taylor's Version) makes improvements in different ways, but it's the delivery that makes it not as convincing. It's as if she was singing a song that's not hers, which is ironic. As well, some of the production falls flat. For example, Holy Ground's new production takes off the edge to the song, and it loses the feeling that makes you want to get messy and dance. Swift also made a few subtle note changes, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but the least subtle and most obnoxious one is that in the chorus of "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," where she elongates the "Wee!"'s and brings them up a note at the end... bad choice.

The vault songs are really what did it for me. Songs like "Message In A Bottle," and "The Very First Night," made me remember how genius Taylor Swift is in the pop category, and are so catchy that they literally have me jumping out of my seat and skipping down the street (this is not a joke.) But masked behind the poppy instrumentals, these songs have some of the most heartbreaking lyrics, as they fully capture the feeling of hopelessness and longing, but making a wish anyways because you're just so in love. I can't tell if I should be dancing or crying, so I do a little bit of both. The vault song that I was most looking forward to was "Nothing New," and she certainly did not disappoint. Like many other Taylor Swift fans, I was worried she would follow the trend of her female collaborators being solely for the purpose of background vocals. When I heard Phoebe sing her first line, my mouth fell open. There is no one more perfect who could fit this song, and as Swift and Bridgers sounds work together, it creates the most honest and real song that I have ever heard. I was glad that Swift decided to add her versions of "Babe" and "Better Man," because it's surreal to hear songs that I know by heart now being sung by a different voice. I also think the improved backing to Babe ("What about your promises, promises?), really elevates the whole song. "Forever Winter" is another great addition to this album, but the star of the show really is "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)". Again, I had some worry for this song, as I've never actually listened to a 10 minute song that was actually good and kept me captivated. But, there's a first for everything. Swift made the right calls for which verses to cut, but it's appalling how she's had some of the lyrics hidden away for over a decade. "You kept me like a secret but I kept you like an oath," is some of the most mind-blowing stuff I've heard. My favorite addition to the song is definitely the outro, which is a haunting and soothing chant of Swift reminding herself that it was real, everything was so real.

Despite some of the re-recorded songs not being able to top the original ones, the 2021 Red album as a whole undoubtedly beats out the 2012 one.

I've been a big fan of her original (stolen) album for years, but her new version has improved quite a bit, giving it more life and emotion than before for her new songs.

this album is amazing and it's incredibly sad how some people dont get why taylor re-recorded it. it wasnt because she wanted to "milk" her fans, or because she cant get over her ex boyfriends. she is taking back what's rightfully hers, and it really seems that people are just trying to find an excuse to hate on her. overall, it's an amazing album, even better than the original

I am just so blown away by Red (Taylor’s Version). If you thought Fearless (Taylor’s Version) was good, buckle up because something about Red TV is even more magical. Not only are the re-recordings all splendid, all of the vault songs are also so good. With Fearless, maybe a couple seemed a bit out of place but in Red they all fit in, since Red was already a mix of calmer acoustic songs (Sad Beautiful Tragic) and hyper synth-heavy tracks (22). Like in Fearless TV, Taylor Swift’s songs are taken to the next level and all of them are improvements (some exceedingly so) over their predecessors. Even though most of the songs featured here are nine years old, they still retain the punch that they had back at the initial release. Some songs I was able to appreciate more this time around, especially due to the substantial improvements made across the board. I think the thing that most stood out to me was the improved mixing of the album. The whole thing felt more balanced and even the distorted synths or guitars felt more natural than they did back in the original album.

Due to the character limit I have to omit my song-by-song commentary, which is infuriating because I have a lot to say about each track.

Overall, I can confidently say that Red (Taylor’s Version) is her best work (so far, we’ve still got several Taylor’s Versions to go). She takes an album that was already really good and just pushes it to 11. I’m not sure how she did it, but even some of the songs that I wasn’t crazy about the first time around made deep impressions on me in this version. The newly released songs are all powerful, poppy, and totally Taylor, and it blows my mind that these didn’t make the original cut of the album. Regardless of why they didn’t, I am so glad that I am able to enjoy them now. Fans of the original will love this re-release as it is everything the original was and more. I also encourage everyone who loves music to listen to Red Taylor's Version because it truly is a work of art and one of the very best albums I have reviewed. I cannot wait for more Taylor's Versions to come out, but until then Fearless and Red were both knockouts. Highlights: State Of Grace, Red, Treacherous, I Knew You Were Trouble, All Too Well (Both), 22, I Almost Do, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, Stay Stay Stay, The Last Time, Holy Ground, The Lucky One, Everything Has Changed, Starlight, Begin Again, The Moment I Knew, Come Back...Be Here, Girl At Home, Ronan, Better Man, Nothing New, Babe, Message In A Bottle, I Bet You Think About Me, Forever Winter, and The Very First Night (just go listen to the whole album).

She needs to focus on creating new, more versatile music. She refuses to step out of her comfort zone so much that she need to re record her old music. I understand her vocal abilities are very limited, but creatively she’s stuck in the past, she’s no longer a teenager and all her music sounds the same.

Trash! Taylor again exploits empty-headed fans like slot machines with bad music they already own.

The original album felt more authentic. Now it’s just a messy repackaged compilation of 30 tracks just to pull streaming numbers. Also, Taylor is truly an expert at milking past relationships, even from years ago… Imagine writing a 10 minute song, + numerous versions of it AND a short film (!)… about an ex-boyfriend from 10 years ago! Obsessive behaviour honestly!

Terrible production and voice choices. I don't know what's the point of these re-recordings other than making money for her. She has become the EA Games of the music industry with these different versions it is sad to see.

As in Fearless (Taylor's version), Taylor's vocal growth and increased awareness of who she is and what she can do, gave her old songs a new life. They're even better of the original ones!
Plus, the new tracks fits perfectly the album style and concept.
Special mention to All too well (10 mins version), the emotional climax of the entire album.

One of her best albums that became even better now. All too well 10min is an instant classic. I also loved I bet you think about me from the vault tracks. It has the same sarcasm as blank space. The minor changes in the production of the songs make it sound much fresher and not a 2012 album. Great work.

Taylor wanted to make a recording of her album but she was far from overcoming it or doing better, her voice is forced and without the intention of doing it well, just scoring by the numbers which is sad because it only shows how desperate she is, she couldn't even do it. listen to this full album. Taylor needs to speak to her fandom and stop victimizing her and throwing hatred at her fr ex's.

Puerile and overrated. It's a shame since most artists evolve with experience but Swift is embalmed in adolescence.

Swift lays the groundwork of her songs with good chords in Red (Taylor’s Version), but she also enhances the songs’ power with catchy lyrics and melodies (“You fooound me / You fooound me / You fooound me-e-e-e-“).

Truth is that this is now the definitive version of Red. It may also ensure that the good old boys who casually sold her music, seemingly out of a mixture of greed and spite, won’t get one red cent from Red, and it proves you can take a masterpiece and make it sound even better.

The highlight of these is a ten-minute version of "All Too Well," a bitter ballad that was already one of the peaks of Red and is now turned into an epic kiss-off. This, along with excavated songs, are reason enough for Swift to revisit Red and they, not the re-recordings, are the reason to return to Red [Taylor's Version].
