She managed to create a new sound nonexistent in her past records and she manages to sound edgy, confident, and daring. I was really mad when I saw that Consequence of Sound article, and the fact that that they gave her a 33, which does not add up at all, as the album is beyond that score and the article was very biased and attacked her own personality and not the music. I also feel like she is singing from a different space in this album, she is more honest and raw and is able to channel this vulnerability extremely well in each song. I hope she makes don't blame me a single as it is incredibly catchy and has brilliant lyrics. Overall, an incredibly clever electro-pop album that shows her off in a different light Expand

This is the best album of 2017...I love all the songs and Taylor with this album has established herself as biggest pop artist of this era...She is the only one who writes her personal feelings so well in the songs..I love the album but not more than Queen TayTay herself!

Pop music's resident prostitute is at it again. Here are the two types of songs Taylor is capable of:

1-Wah wah some celebs bullied me :(
2-"My bby treats me so nice ;)"

If you want an actual capable songwriter, go listen to Lorde's album.

The best she has done so far. We should judge the album based on the sound, music, lyrics, not the drama around it. She is still a lyrical genius. Some songs on here are hard and make you want to stand up and jam to them. The rest are so sweet, genuine. And last but not east, the story telling is spot on

This album features a new side of Taylor never heard before. Her new music style actually works out and she pulls it off in an astounding 15 track album. Each song is a bop with lyric game being very strong. She weaves incredible songs mixed with a fantastic production. Would really recommend to buy.

It's loud, fun, and relatable. Not perfect, not 1989, but still good. No matter what she does people are going to find something to complain about, but this album really shouldn't be it. It is a good, strong pop record. Nothing more, nothing less.

Reputation. It is a snake hidden in a field of flowers, ready to strike. every bit of it is so catchy and well planned out. the beats rattle my heart strings instead of plucking them gently.

And we end on the softest, sweetest Taylor who was disguised by her own reputation.

Las canciones como como ...ready for it, Look What You Made Me Do, End the Game y mis favoritas I Did Something Bad y Don't Blame Me son las canciones mas enérgicas de todo el álbum, Gorgeous me recuerda mucho a Blank Space por una base electropop muy tranquila, está canción This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things y Dancing with Our Hands Tied a mi parecer son las canciones mas divertidas de reputatión me hace recordar canciones como New Romantics y 22. Taylor Swift is, indeed, the Queen of Pop this year. Don't let the title fool you - Reputation - It's not all shady or something. Most of her songs are all about her ongoing relationship. Taylor Swift brought us an obnoxious album that is so boring to listen until the end; it is painful stop to listen all the 15 tracks (at least 12 tracks of it). "Reputation" was a worst attempt to show "angry", overcoming and criticism about stuffs that have been injuring Mrs. Taylor through these times, in addition to the lack of smartness in many parts of the lyrics through the record. And many of the tracks it's disposable, unfortunately, Taylor let her heartbreak take many of the lyrics that turned her appointments into an amount of ****

A not good track is "…Ready for It?" a noisy BAD ballad, super nasty and the repetition of "Let the games begin" uncountable times cause a feeling of irritability. "End Game", Taylor tried to gather Wine and Water (Ed Sheeran & Future). This environment between RAP and POP MUSIC, aesthetic, do not convince anybody that some music can be good/excellent just with this "searching for something new", or cool (OMG look at me mixing oil and water), it is tasteless. I think if Taylor had made a track with Ed and another one with Future, it will be less unpleasant to listen. However, Ed Sheeran's vocals are the only good thing in this track.

Even though this album can be a little bit god-awful, I should highlight "Look What You Made Me Do" with Taylor Swift singing (with a sexy voice [trying to be sexy or not, but causing this reaction]) softly and angrily at the same time. This music has one of the best instrumentals of the whole record, besides of the iconic part when she sings: "I'm sorry; the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now" "Why? "Oh, cause she's dead". In addition to "Don't Blame Me" that "OMG HIT ME HARDER WITH YOUR POTENTIAL GURL", and then for me, is the only track that I loved so far in "Reputation" that I could recommend for you guys to listen. This track exudes a sort of passion that is so strong than her persona to bear with it (comparing this relationship with a drugs' addiction), and it is beautiful, intense and lovely..

Sorry but to anyone who says that "this is obviously the best pop album of the year", you guys are so biased. This is not even music anymore, this is more like a recyclable piece of trash.
Sorry, but this is too disappointing. I really hoped for something better than Look What You Made Me Do but turns out it is even worse.

This album is bad - much worse than I believe critics are making it out to be.

Starting out, the subect material on this album is absolutely childish. Song titles such as "Look What You Made Me Do", "I Did Something Bad", "Don't Blame Me" and "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things" are all juvenile names of songs written by a middle school pre-teen girl but instead are the titles of songs off of Taylor Swift's 6th studio album. Swift goes for a supposedly more mature lyrical content in these songs, but in doing so only makes her seem more childish and shallow in her songwriting prowess. The lyrical content here is absolutely her weakest yet, with no defining features, and laughably simplistic looks at mature topics - just showing how out of her depth she really is.

On that subject, this album also eschews the more bright, poppy sound off of 1989, replacing it with a "rougher sound". However, this sound is worryingly close to the gross bass, synth heavy dirge of the late 2000's, being uncomfortable to listen to, and offering no unique or redeeming qualities. Not only this, but Swift's instrumental choices match the lyrics in the sense that they remain woefully mismatched with her songwriting strengths. With this album, Swift tries to sound like Rihanna, but fails in every single way. While I appreciate her for taking a new creative step, this does not fit her character, style, songwriting, or production capacities whatsoever.

While this album is at the least, competent, the uncreative lyrics and composition make it that most songs on here will be ones that you won't want to go back to. Hopefully, Taylor can learn from this for her next album, and develop more of the mature pop sound demonstrated on 1989 hits like "Wildest Dreams" and "Style", rather than the muddy, convoluted songs of "Look What You Made Me Do" or "..Ready For It?".

non-single songs from the album are good, fresh and way better than the singles. all the singles except for LWYMMD are boring and don't deserve to be singles. Gorgeous sounds like a typical Taylor Swift song.

It's the quietest moment on Reputation, yet the most powerful – she wakes up after a glam New Year's bash ("Glitter on the floor after the party/Girls carrying their shoes down in the lobby") and reflects on what she has left to call her own, which is the not-so-glam partner she'll be spending this not-so-glam day with. Her lyrics are embarrassing and immature - you'd expect something beyond middle school cliches from a nearly-30-year-old woman, but somehow her songwriting was better when she was a teenager. she has zero self awareness and is completely self-obsessed and tone deaf, all of which is so obvious if you actually read the lyrics. they're cringe-worthy and frankly embarrassing. this album is so bland and lacks any character - something that used to set her apart from her peers. this album could be sung by anyone - it has none of the details or personal touches that used to make her interesting. the songs all blend together, which i guess is what people mean when they say the album is cohesive. there is not a single song on this that is objectively good - this is from someone who has seen her in concert multiple times and used to be a big fan. she has never been as talented a songwriter as people like to pretend (though when she first started, it was impressive for her age) but either she's completely lost it or the people she cowrote the songs with (she didn't write a single song on this by herself) are much worse than she is. the song she recently won a CMA for (better man) is lightyears better than anything on this horrible album - she should go back to that sound, because this is not working for her. no one will be listening to this a month from now. zero longevity or cultural relevance. her worst album by far, and the worst and most overhyped album of the year. some of the songs are so bad that it was literally painful listening to them all the way through. anyone praising this is deaf, delusional, 12 years old, or an obsessive stan unable to have a halfway objective opinion about anything taylor swift does. truly a horrible album. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. “Reputation” by Taylor Swift is an album about knowing that people are going to talk about you no matter what you do, yet you fall in love despite this reality. “Big reputation, you and me would be a big conversation,” she sings on “End Game,” a surprising collaboration with Future and Ed Sheeran. In “This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things,” a song we can assume is about the whole Kanye drama, she sings “and therein lies the issue, friends don’t try to trick you,” and by the end gives thanks to her real friends, her lover, and her mom. Although there are a few weaker areas of this album, Taylor still delivers the lyrics and melodies that she is known for. My favorite song on the album, “Don’t Blame Me,” is a gospel influenced anthem where her vocals shine and the production is flawless. This album feels calculated, not just a bunch of random songs thrown together. It tells a story, a story that she’s finally ready for everyone to hear after three years. I’d be lying if I didn’t get nostalgic for “Speak Now” when she I first heard “hold onto the memories and they will hold onto you” in the final track, the album’s only acoustic song, “New Year’s Day.” But Taylor is no longer an innocent 19 year old country singer, she is a pop powerhouse who doesn’t have to explain herself to anyone. I think this album is best summed up by one of the best lines on the album: “my reputation’s never been worse, so you must like me for me.” Despite her reputation, Taylor is doing just fine. Expand

My first review will be very mixed, this is a sad day for me. This is the day that I did not like entirely a Taylor's album, for the first time. Taylor Swift was a big country inspiration from her beginning for me. I was already a bit upset when she slowly made her way to pop music this past few years. Although I admit she nailed it, with very catchy songs, she managed to surprise me everytime... Until now! Well, Look what you made me do was already the tip of the iceberg, a very well produced music video was made to hide the fact that the song was void of any depth and melody. I did not understand that sudden need for her to show some skin, like a lot of women in the music industry. She doesn't need to get undressed to be taken seriously. She is already a powerful singer/songwriter. This is a giant step backward for her credibility in my taste. Same goes for this new music genre, pop/r&b/electropop. Don't get me wrong, I like those music genres, I just don't like what she has done with it. This feels like a desperate need for attention and recognition, or a way of changing her image from the naïve and sweet country singer to a sassy diva, maybe it's just a phase, like Miley Cyrus did. I'm trying to stay objective here, I know a lot is being said about her personality, but whether it's true or false, I don't care about that, I do not judge the work of an artist by his or her private life, those are two separate things. Anyway, to answer Taylor's question in one of her song: I was not ready for it at all ^^.
Let's stay positive, I liked 8 songs out of 15 which is still quite a lot, a bit more than the half, so I score this album 6/10. Honourable mention for "End Game" and "Call it what you want" :)

This and Melodrama are this year's best pop albums.
Very refreshing to see Swift experimenting with new sounds and production.
Swift exposes her dark and intimate side and we're all here for it.

Truely the best album of decade. Everything fits perfectly: vocals, lyrics, production and mood. All the songs are also relatable and I could see the picture. PERFRCT

New and old at the same time. New rithms and sounds (good point) but same topics in the lyrics as "1989", even though are so intimate and show us the real Taylor not just her reputation. She's one the best pop writers of our generation and she show it in this album. Amazing work Taylor!

This is the best pop album of the year, taylor continues to prove that she's the biggest pop star of this decade, she knows how to show her thoughts, her emotions in a way that no pop star - such as Katy Perry or Miley Cyrus - can do.

Sometimes overly busy album. ... Swift soars when she is most herself. [Jan 2018, p.112]

Part rumination on engaging with the pop icon and part deep end even after eating the meal, Reputation keeps the ball in the air, argues for moving forward, even if it’s herky jerky.

Swift’s unencumbered analysis of the tectonic shifts within her personal and public life are equal parts razor sharp and self-indulgent. But as a pop album, Reputation is never revolutionary, the adrenalin rush heady but ultimately short-lived.
