Blown away by Travi$ on this one. As every artist grows and changes, so does their music and this is a work of art. Not so impressed with the production wished Travi$ wouldve handled it a little more. Other than that, Album of the Year, with great features. My favorite from the album is Maria, Im Drunk ft. Justin Bieber and Young Thug!

Travis Scott's debut album Rodeo is a fantastic start to his career. The beats are extremely dope, the production is great, and the features on this album did their thing. I absolutely loved all the songs on the album. Rodeo is an excellent start to Travis Scott's career. I Highly Recommend it.

Not a perfect album, but it's damn near close. First and foremost the production on this project is phenomenal; I don't think there's a beat on this album that doesn't use the trap sound in the most professional or creative way possible. The lyrics are catchy, the narrative is interesting and clever, and the albums mood, feel, and aesthetic is extremely rich. One of my favorite albums ofNot a perfect album, but it's damn near close. Uma das colaborações mais aguardada pelos fãs de Kanye West & Travi$ Scott finalmente ocorre. A faixa 'Piss on Your Grave' originalmente obtinha participação de outra lenda, Paul McCartney.

The majority of tracks on this record are great, such as Antidote, Maria, I'm Drunk, Pray 4 Love, Nightcrawlers and 90210. The features on the record are also surprisingly decent, with features from Quavo of Migos, 2 Chainz, Swae Lee, The Weeknd and Toro Y Moi which are all pretty nice.

The main two issues I have with the album are the track 'Piss On Your Grave ft. Kanye West' and the album cover itself. Normally, I wouldn't allow a piece of artwork that accompanies the album itself to factor into my like/dislike of an album but the cover art here is so repulsive that it made the album unappealing to me prior to listening and still makes me have mixed thoughts about purchasing the album physically just due to how much I dislike the cover art.

Overall, Travi$ Scott came through with an incredibly surprising first studio album but like his previous records, there's numerous flaws in his work which bring the album down a few points.

His production here really shines and while you can tell he takes a lot of influence from southern rap music and Kanye West, it's never at the point where he is copying them, or blatantly ripping off their ideas. Travis is able to put his own spin on it and his auto tuned vocals sound great all across the album. This is not a flawless album, Travis is not the most spiritual lyrical miracle rapper on the planet but he delivers enough substance and personality in his bars that it outweighs his setbacks on this album. Piss On Your Grave is a cool song but it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the songs here, I don't know why Kanye wanted it to be on Rodeo, if he had released it as a single It still would sounded better. It seems like he was influenced heavily by Death Grips Jenny Death album, which was released at the end of March that year, it's likely as they've been influences to him before. Otherwise than those blemishes this is a fantastic album, and in my opinion it's one of the best trap rap albums ever made and a must listen for any who think trap can only be mindless club songs made by talent less bums.

After some solid mixtapes like Owl Pharoah and Days Before Rodeo providing further insight into Travis Scott's catchy autotune style, He was considered nothing but an artist that you could play in the radio or strip club and put his discography as background music, But in late 2015 Travis proved every music outlet wrong by comprising a masterpiece of an album containing dark trap bangers about his Houston upbringing like Oh My Dis Side and Nightcrawler but also some lyrical ballads about Travis's shady association with crime and drugs. The best part of this album is probably the amazing trap production, mostly produced by Travis himself as he got his big break from producing with Kanye West on the GOOD Music compilation song tape, also known as Good Friday. His production increases here incorporating more elements into songs like smooth beat switches and fantastic drums and 808's. The features also shine here with melodic verses from The Weeknd and Swae Lee to hard trap banger formatted verses from legendary trap artists like 2Chainz and Future. Every feature on here is perfectly placed, especially old school legend T.I and his intro and outro to the album depicting Travis as a young rebel who bends the laws and exceeds society expectations on the intro track Pornography and the original version outro track: Apple Pie. Travis is also at his best with his autotune as his voice is instrumental and the instrumental is his voice, adding onto the young Houston rebel who bends rules theme. The lyrics aren't anything amazing but they are still pretty solid talking about topics like being an outlaw, drugs, strippers and the crazy events that Travis encountered upon his lifetime. 90210 is his most lyrical track talking about the dangers of the 90210 zipcode alley in Houston and talking about how fame impressed his fantasy after the beat switch. In conclusion, Rodeo is a trap masterpiece and i sone of the best albums ever made

The album opens up with Pornography which introduces us to the type of person Travis is through T.I.'s monologues and the lyrics themselves. Following the intro track, is Oh My Dis Side, one of the first of Travis' many two parters, and the second part features great verse from Travis and Quavo. Another high point on the album is 90210, my favorite song on the album. The first part is dark and psychedelic and features Kacy Hill belting over Travis' melodic singing/rapping. The first part melts into the second part where Travis displays his lyrical ability with an an amazing verse full of quotables. The are many other high points on the album such as the trippy Nightcrawler, the catch Antidote, and a great second verse on I Can Tell. The feature list is incredible, with Kacy Hill’s vocals gliding through 90210 or The Weeknd crooning on Pray 4 Love or Swae Lee and Chief Keef’s hazy club trap sound on Nightcrawler. Not only is this album very influential for music now, it was ahead of it’s time. In 2015, trap music wasn’t a thing yet and rap was growing in different ways. After this album, a new path for rap was born and artists since then have followed this way of rap immensely. Another important aspect of this piece is that no song sounds alike and the sound in this album has grown from Travis Scott’s previous project, days before rodeo. This variety in styles of rap throughout the album makes this album easy to enjoy for a variety of listeners, as there’s different songs for everyone that all come together in a cohesive special package. If you look at this album in Travis’s discography and compare it to his former and latter albums, this album defines his sound that he elbowed into the super star he is today. Next, after talking to listeners today after 5 years since the release, the album has immense replay value and is still very popular today. Lastly, while talking with other listeners we all agreed that after 5 years of this album being out, there’s nothing like it. No one has released something close to this album with this much influence and importance. All in all, this album defines the change of rap music in the 2010’s and is a 10/10 in my eyes. Expand

It took me a few days to figure out how I felt about the new Travis Scott album. For a few days it was sat in my iTunes and then when i finally decided to dive into it i couldn’t really figure out if I hated or loved what I’d heard so I left it a few days and when I listened to it again it just clicked. I love it. The beats are super atmospheric throughout, its really cohesive, he makes great use of samples and the dark synths highlight the records (often depressingly) dark mood. Travis Scott’s vocal contributions don’t really impress me that much but I can get through them and there’s plenty of features to keep things rolling (even if they are a bit peculiar.) I wouldn’t say any of the songs are bangers (except maybe ‘Antidote’) but they’d still do well on the radio. The only song I actually dislike is ‘3500’, it’s like 7 minutes (why???) and it barely changes. I really liked ‘Piss On Your Grave’ I can’t see why it was getting hate, the raw drums and Jimi Hendrix sample sound great. Kanye West is fine on it as well I wasn’t expecting him to spit some fire and he didn’t. I guess Travis could have done Kanye’s part himself to the same effect but it would be a bit outrageous if he wasn’t on the album.

Overall I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this record and I am eagerly awaiting the next project Travis puts out. Expand

Lyrically, this album is pretty mediocre in fair honesty. It is the production however, which keeps this album truly lit and enjoyable. The production from Scott is incredible, and this album is obviously influenced from Yeezus in terms of the abrasive, experimental-trap sound. Plenty of bangers and awesome album!

Travis Scott first album is while not the best out this year it is his best work of his career and it has shown through catchy tracks such as Oh my Dis Side and the very wonderful 90210. If you have the money or want to know who Travis is well this is a good way to start .

I did not like "Days Before Rodeo" and I was not coming into this LP with high hopes, but I was thoroughly surprised when Travis came through with very nice voice interludes and instrumental. I now understand what the "Rodeo" is.

Songs like, Nightcrawler, and Piss On Your Grave, and Antidote, make you want to shout the lyrics at the top of your lungs. "I GOT ME SOME UPS, I GOT ME A FREIGHT!" Another plus, is Travis' voice on this thing, it feels like he finally perfected his autotune style, and it sounds robotic, but human and emotive at the same time. Over all good record, I will definitely have this in my rotation for months. Expand

I couldn't believe I liked this as much as I did. You already know that "Antidote" will be a jam for years to come, but there really aren't too many weak spots on this. Only complaints would be some truly weak bars peppered throughout, some tiresome production on tracks here and there and not enough in terms of what this genre does best: crafting BANGERS.

This is a near perfect album. The rodeo as a metaphor for his life is a great concept and Travis endows it with his own unique sound: lots of gritty guitar riffs (e.g. 3500, Pornography, Never Catch Me), heavy basses and dark, moody, epic instrumentals (Oh My Dis Side is truly a work of art). The features on this album are all able to improve the tracks they're on with Quavo being my favorite.

Not one track is bad. Only Wasted and Flying High are tracks where you have to be in a certain mood to enjoy them, in my opinion. But still not bad tracks, just very special.

I am writing this review just now, because, after one month of listening to Travis' somophore album BITTSM, it made me appreciate Rodeo even more. Birds is good, but Rodeo is something special.

It's not that experimental like Death Grips, but it's not that commercial like Gucci Mane either. It's just in between, which makes it such great ear candy. The theme is about a rapper coming up to fame, seeing the positives and negatives of fame, and how he has to be responsible for his own mistakes. It' not new to hip-hop, but the refreshing production makes it sound entertaining. Give it a listen, you might not be disappointed. It is one of the most criminally underrated rap records of 2015, that's for sure. I didn't mind Piss On Your Grave, just because it had a Jimi Hendrix vibe to it and it sounds hyped as **** but that Kanye feature kinda ruined it. Yes, there might be many features, but Travis Scott still stays on the stage without losing his balance.

It’s difficult in me not to name every song, as each song has its unique trap sound, that doesn’t seem to get repetitive, every song gives you a new experience, a new vibe and a new vibe, each with their own story about Travis. We can see a bit more into Travis personal life in tracks like “impossible”, that give us such emotional journey, while Travis talks about his him being trapped with unloving someone, something which a lot of listers can relate to definitely. The features in the album definitely fit their place and give their own stamp on the track, with “Maria I’m drunk” having possibly the best Justin Bieber verse. The ending of this album (non-deluxe Version) gives us possible the best ending of an album, telling us his life about making it on his own, not feeding off his parents anymore, and finally finding his passion and a place in the world, giving the name “Travis Scott” a place in the hip-hop and music world. Oh My Dis Side is a song with Quavo talking about their come up (Travis from Houston, and Quavo from Atlanta) 9/10. 3500 would be one of the best songs in the album if it weren't for Future's lacking (Not Bad) feature. Travis has a great verse and hook, so does 2Chainz 8/10. Wasted is this dark song about getting drunk and high in Houston has a sampled hook from Pimp C (R.I.P.) and a good verse from Juicy J 8/10. 90210 has to be Travis' best song the first part of it is dark, and he talks about a "Pornstar girl" who moves to Hollywood as a prostitute or stripper, and she's hooked on drugs because she's hooked on being low. The second part of the song has a nice 90's type beat and talks about his new fame and fortune 10/10. Pray 4 Love is a slow song and probably my least favorite out of everything on here, it's very slow, and the weekend's autotune sounds bad on the hook 4/10. Nightcrawler is a party anthem that has a hypnotic hook and a decent verse from Chief Keef 8/10. Piss on your Grave has the weirdest song idea on the Album, and Kanye's feature is off the wall 5/10. Antidote was the lead single of this album and the middle part is lacking, but comes back with the ending verse 8/10. Impossible is another great song and a better love song than the song on this album called Pray 4 Love, this is one of the songs where Travis shows how much better he is at using autotune than anyone else in the scene right now 10/10. Flying high is a great song with a great feature by Toro y Moi the production is insane in this track 9/10. I can Tell is a song about things Travis can tell you about his hometown Houston, TX 8/10. Apple Pie is the explanation and finishing track of this album it explains that the rodeo was him growing up in Texas 8/10. This is the best trap album period. Everything it has is better than most trap albums (Except for lyrics on half of the songs)

While not lyrically dense like To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar that came out the same year of 2015, it holds its place as a trap classic that music lovers can reflect on as the trap trend will go to pass eventually and maybe laugh at the critic's reviews for such a blunder for misidentifying Rodeo's formation

Listening to 'Rodeo' is an unique experience. You feel accompagnied all along the album by powerful emotions, stubborn rhythms and melodious flights. Still the major problem I have with it is its repetitiveness. Some songs are totally ruined by never-ending hooks. Let's take '3500' : how many times do we have to undergo the 'only trill n***as I know' shout ? Same for 'I Can't Tell', which the title is chanted throughout the whole 4 minutes of the song. Same again for 'Flying High', and again for Young Thug never letting go of 'call your friends, let's get drunk' in 'Maria I'm Drunk'... Repetitiveness is the reason I give this score to 'Rodeo', because repetitiveness made me saddly hate some of the tracks of the project. I truly wanted to love it but this ruined 'Rodeo'. Hopefully we now know that Travis is an artist who needs to experiment to grow. It's clear we never would have had 'Astroworld' without 'Rodeo'.

I have it on good authority that Rodeo is the kind of album that occupies a largish place in the annals of music history, the kind of album we use to demonstrate the moment where everything changed.

Rodeo might not be Travis Scott's most consistent work, but it's certainly his most interesting. Each of these songs hit, but more importantly, the leave open threads that other equally-inspired, like-minded artists can feel free to explore to their logical end, where there lie not only a pot of gold, but, in fact, another rainbow.

As for our narrator himself, Travis succeeds as an honest, introspective storyteller by celebrating and exploring the potential conceits of his outwardly aggressive demeanor, while also shining a light on his sensitivities, particularly in the thoughtful "diary track" 90210, which is the kind of track that turns ardent skeptics into passionate devotees, a spiritual successor of a sort to Wu-Tang's C.R.E.A.M.

It's really something to look at old reviews of this album which describe the album's now-iconic production as "futuristic." It's telling of Scott's talents and force-of-personality that this "Sound of the Future" has it's DNA in most every hip-hop record since its inception, and in a more than generous helping of pop and rock albums. And more to the point, this must be some sort of optimistic diversion, one which elects to reward the boundary pushing, exciting, yet also thoughtful, provocative, and ultimately, sincere.

Soundscapes are important with albums. Something that Travis does NOT skimp on here. rich, beautiful instrumentals, entrancing vocals, incredible features, and a flowing tracklist, this thing is seriously my second favorite just behind tpab.

Underrated album by Critics. Amazing production and hipnotic Travis voice gives us very enjoyable album. Solid project form Travis where tells us about his problem with his addiction to patries and girls.

So this one is a difficult one for me. I always loved this album since it came out. That was because some songs on here are still one of my favorites of all time. But The rest of the tracklist is overshadowed. It's like an album with unbelievable tracks on it but at the same time throwaway songs that are so forgettable. The more I revisit this album, the more I dislike it. Still solid butSo this one is a difficult one for me. I always loved this album since it came out. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Craziest trap album of all time. It's been almost 8 years of release and this album hits every time I listen to it . I'm blown away by the production and you can easily understand how much effort has been put on it. Travis' vocals on songs like 90210 or pray for love are out of this world. I love every single project that he has made but Rodeo is definitely my favourite. Expand

Contender for greatest trap album ever, the quality and timelessness of this album is incomparable.

Somewhere beneath all the hype and production he does shine through.

Yes, the production is razor sharp, the beats are skewed and often very loud which makes them feel important, but in reality, it's all a façade; an image.

Rodeo deftly accomplished one thing: Scott's sound is cemented. [#267, p.93]
