I was a bit wary about this album, because I was worried it will be 'Trench 2' and I never listened to the whole Trench... I didn't even 'hate' it, I was just indifferent.

This one is the exact opposite - it's really addictive. I love the bright, catchy music, sometimes juxtaposed with lyrics, I love how it makes you pay attention to the 'story'. It's not perfect, but it's very clear

Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, sheet on it, vomeet on it, eat it, give birth to it.

Um dos melhores álbuns do ano. Leve, bem produzido, com mensagens fortes e super bem escrito. Tyler Joseph e Josh Dun nunca decepcionam! No Chances e Redecorate são as maiores do álbum!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I believe Twenty One Pilots solidifies this aesthetic with the wording and the lyrics as well. I’ve seen many people disliking this new pop aspect with songs like “Saturday.” It may not be your favorite, however the band itself does not emphasize in capsule their sound based on their standards. I recommend listening first in order and then shuffle them out. You will understand the propaganda the world they’re displaying (DEMA). And the million theories they have about this topic makes the album interesting. Personal favorites are: Mulberry Street, Good Day, Redecorate, Shy Away and Saturday. Reconsider that this album is somewhat different to previous ones, but don’t discredit the effort and work put into it. A really nice album with some skips (The Outside and Never Take It personally speaking). Let’s learn to appreciate every artists’ work without whining about it. Expand

I will start by saying that this album is wonderful. "Scaled and Icy" is renewed and we can see that there are very spontaneous songs and rhythms. Twenty One Pilots never disappoints and brings new things every time. So far my favorite songs are "Good Day", "The Outside", "Saturday"... anyway they are all very good and it is difficult to choose which one is better. Congratulations guys!

é impressionante que eles conseguiram mudar tanto o estilo de um álbum para o outro, trench um álbum extremamente pesado e nem um pouco de pop, para o scaled and icy um álbum pop e uma era super colorida, mesmo nunca perdendo sua essência

It's kind of there but not there.

The flavor used in this music is variant. From gorgeous synthetic instruments to rugged funk guitars and undisputed grooves. I can deny that I like the album but unfortunately, I liked the bass notes used in most of the songs on the "Trench" album, due to the fact that these note melodies are both nostalgic and unforgettable. I was expecting better bass

Where to even begin with twenty one pilots? Their catalogue of music is so well crafted, comprehensive, and each album has a unique feel to it. Trench and Blurryface tell their own stories, usually a mirror of whatever Tyler Joseph struggles with.
Scaled and Icy doesn’t do that.
It doesn’t have the depth of those earlier projects. It wasn’t designed to be an all encompassing experience

What does Scaled and Icy have?
Fun. An infectious sense of fun.
Tyler has said in interviews that he pushed against the natural inclination to go darker, because he didn’t want to contribute to the stress of the world’s current state. In my opinion, that was the right call. The moment I heard “Good Day” start up, I wanted to get up and bounce down a street. Scaled and Icy feels like some reassuring words from a friend. Every song has personality bursting from the seams. I’ve heard some songs described as “bland” or “soulless,” but this genuinely baffles me. On the contrary, every song (except Formidable) has an instantly recognizable flair. Formidable is the unfortunate exception, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad song. It really isn’t, but it’s traditional to a fault. I’ve also heard criticism towards the lyrical content, especially with Saturday. I have to wonder if we were listening to the same song. Saturday is about how if you don’t make conscious efforts to differentiate each day, they start to blend together and you lose your sense of time. That’s incredibly relatable, especially after lockdown, where I experienced this exact sensation.
Each track is very replayable, something I can’t say about every TøP song. Vessel may be a wonderful album that tackles a lot of real problems like suicide, but for that same reason I’m not itching to listen to something like “Guns for Hands” again. It feels wrong to jam to that. Scaled and Icy doesn’t have that problem, even with a deeper song like “Redecorate.”
Scaled and Icy feels like the perfect palate cleanser. It’s sense of fun is unparalleled; combine that with unique instrumental identity makes this a great album to listen to anytime, all the time.

Despite it's propaganda (which I believe it must mean something in Tyler's emotions), I absolutely love this album. Bounce Man is so happy and gave a smile to my face, but No Chances and Redecorate both got me in the brink to tears, they're super emotional. this is a solid album, cohesive songs that works well with one another. but at the same time that fits good lyricism and songwriting, it doesn't push any boundaries, is another good pop rock album.

Given how much effort twenty one pilots give into their presentation, it's genuinely surprising how uninteresting Scaled and Icy sounds on the surface. ... The music itself sounds so limiting and faceless.

It is hard to predict how faithful Twenty-one pilots fans will react. Regardless, given the time spent by Joseph and Dun on this record, this record is a triumph that marks a maturity that now eclipses their previous albums.
