Sleeping Through The War strikes the perfect balance of the familiar and the alien to distill 45 minutes of musical opium. Bliss.
  2. 85
Sleeping Through the War nods more than it winks, but it operates with its own in-joke sense of humor.
  3. 80
Sleeping Through The War apparently has some kind of political undercurrent, but its (thankfully) obfuscated by Charlie Michael Parks Jr’s unhurried drawl and the layers of fuzzy atmospherics that, hopefully, point to the shape of stoner rock to come.

All Them Witches have conjured fresh landmarks all their own. [18 Feb 2017, p.52]

The Nashville-based quartet's fourth studio long-player, and second for New West Records, Sleeping Through the War is All Them Witches' most fully realized set to date, a sprawling yet remarkably focused effort that takes their exploratory, often spliced-together work ethic in a more stridently song-oriented direction.

Sleeping Through The War is the embodiment of a gentle giant: huge in presence but unwaveringly accessible.

This third outing developed a gnarly carpe diem edge. [Mar 2017, p.94]
