The modern 70’s pop-folk style is a unique style that would be very hard for very mature songwriters to pull off. Clairo nailed it first try. My favourite song off the album has to be Just For Today, but honestly every song on the record is worth listening to on repeat.

I really love 'Sling', all tracks are beautiful and very very deep. You can tell how Claire put a lot of effort into the album, both for the lyrics and the instruments!

Very different to what Clairo usually releases but it is a great album, showing off her progression as a musician. Some stand-outs include Amoeba, Bambi and Partridge.

Despite being somniferous and monotonous in its vocal delivery and instrumentals, Clairo clearly can write songs and has talent. While this won’t be an album I choose to enjoy from start to finish, I can see myself enjoying the songs separately or on a rainy or snowy day. My favorite component of this work is how this album showcases reminders for her and us. While this won’t be an album I choose to enjoy from start to finish, I can see myself enjoying the songs separately or on a rainy or snowy day. My favorite component of this work is how this album showcases reminders for her and us. When I think of a reaper, I think of the grim reaper and the scythe alongside its connection to death. Clairo pulls us in to remind us and herself of what looms. The three strongest songs on this album are BLOUSE, JUST FOR TODAY, and REAPER. BLOUSE has Clairo asking why she talks about how she is feeling with a particular person when that person is clearly not interested in that as they prefer to go sexual. JUST FOR TODAY is a heavy track covering anxiety, depression, metal health is a long-term struggle, and suicidal thoughts alongside the need to talk about these tough topics in order to move forward. REAPER announces how
motherhood is likely in Clairo’s future alongside that contrast between her being somebody and producing somebody and sharing things with the future child. There’s also a fear of messing it all up, which is then pushed aside by keeping it a mental exercise. Bambi - 7

Admirable production and delicately composed lyrics. The first half of the album it's a delight to hear, all the songs match perfectly with each other. On the other hand, some songs in the second part of the record deconnects a bit with the rest of the album, creating a somewhat unvarying experience. Anyways, it's outstanding!

Clairo really outdid herself in this project. The production is amazing (of course, coming of Jack Antonoff) and the lyrics are deep, I'm in love with this album.

Lyrically it's great, however production wise it's a bit bland and maybe too relaxed for a lot of people. For me, this would make incredible background music if I'm working on something and want background music to focus better.

I’m posting this in late July of 2021 but I’m already betting that this album is gonna be in my top 3 of 2021 by the end of the year. Incredible vocal performances, fantastic instrumentation, great lyrics and awesome production. If you’re feeling a little down or want some chill music to accompany you during a still evening, this is the album you need to listen to.

Sling Clairo’s second studio album comes very different from her last album “Immunity” but is that bad? Sling is very more vulnerable and more lyrically in depth rather than the up-beat guitar cord you would hear in “Immunity”. Claire “Clairo” has done an incredible job with this album, nice to hear a different but beautiful sound from her.

What a beautiful record. It gave me major nostalgias to my childhood. The instruments used all blend well together. A major step up from her debut (which already was a solid body of work). The album was very cohesive sonically and the storytelling was great. The album started off giving jazz and ended with indie-folk.
Her pen game has gotten so much better, looking forward to more projects

The beauty of Sling is immediately apparent, but it is so much more than ‘pretty’, Clairo is letting us in to her safe space and reminding us to nurture one another. She is creating songs that throw an arm (or paw) around you and share the weight of your experiences.

Halfway through a song like Blouse (think Our House by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young but resolutely uncatchy) this reviewer begins to yearn for the Clairo that worked with Danny L Harle and Mura Masa, though Sling is an album that at least works on its own terms.

‘Immunity’ was a shoulder to cry on, a promise that it will all be okay, eventually. ‘Sling’ feels like that “eventually” coming true.
