I saw Ben Folds in concert last night as he sang most of the songs from this new album. Apparently the man is very angry at God as he repeated GD three times in a row, used the F word with ease throughout the evening, called God a myth and ranted about how inept his teachers at RJ Reynolds High School were with his self-righteous creativity, that he displayed while disrespecting hisI saw Ben Folds in concert last night as he sang most of the songs from this new album. I was not entertained and just wanted to leave. If I hadn't come with friends, I would have done so. There was a 12 year old sitting behind me with his mother and I hated that he was being subjected to this behavior. Really Ben, you should realize there are people that look up to you. As for me, if you want respect then you need to earn it. Expand

The yMusic songs certainly sound like Ben Folds music, except that they are frustratingly safe.

There are only a couple truly great songs here, so the aforementioned first section doesn’t rival much of his prior output. All things considered, though, So There still packs plenty of strong melodies, lyrics, and vocals, and the wise contributions yMusic scatters throughout the duration are impeccable.

The pop tunes are as good as any that Folds has written.... The "Concerto" tries too hard to be Gershwin or Richard Rogers, but lacks the flow of "Rhapsody In Blue" or the drama of "Slaughter On 10th Avenue." [No. 124, p.57]
