Not as good as melodrama but it’s still good. She conveys many issues such as climate change and fame and it’s just too good

Unpopular Opinion: Solar Power is far from bad, but we're so used to gloom and melancholy, gloom and blue that it was hardly going to be an appreciated album.

Lorde perfects every sound she tries. Sonically, a wonderful sun-soaked, relaxing album. Lyrically, almost haunting. With an overall theme of 'relationships' (both personal, with the environment and herself), there's such a powerful and beautiful message. Solar Power is an album I haven't stopped listening to, and one I'm sure I'll continue to listen to throughout my adulthood.

Solar Power is a display of evolution of Lorde, and it is a beautiful one. The expectations were extremely high, as Melodrama was a masterpiece and Lorde disappointed the people awaiting for a similar album. However, when looking at SP not in terms of sophomore album's continuation, it shows its high quality.

She’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but she substantially says what’s on her mind and stays true to who she is in the moment despite what’s current or trendy in music. Ella is the true lyricist of our generation not only because she’s a poet, but because she’s authentically herself, no games and no apologies.

Not surprising that the critics got it wrong again and this album will age like fine wine, just like the masterpiece that Melodrama currently is.

Competing to her others two albums, solar power is absolutely much more easier and relaxing, it feels nothing but free and weightless, its giving listeners a 4pm-at-the-beach type of feeling. Lorde is such a flexible artist who can put us in different emotions by every album she made. For example, ''Pure Heroine'' is a strong, powerful teenager telling the whole world she is going to rule it one day with those powerful lyrics and heavy beats; ''Melodrama'' is a heartbreaking moment of a broke-up girl who finally grown; and ''Solar Power'' is that same girl who chose to let go of the past, and moved on with freedom and happiness. Its such a beautiful piece of art work, but also absolutly underrated, because people are giving too much expectation on her new album that most people won't get satisfied no matter what she had dropped. And you shouldn't rate an album with that kind of emotion, 'cause after all, the emotional little girl inside her need to finally let go. Expand

Solar Power is Lorde's Album of Healing. It transcends you into this summer world of peace that you might have nostalgia for in this pandemic. Overall her return to nature after her teen angst and sonical trauma shows her power. And she says, "but you gotta want it for yourself".

amazing album, lorde had nothing to prove to us, she could do the trending sad album like a melodrama 2.0, but she followed her plan, she did what she wanted to do, not what we wanted for her to do.

It's different, still it's Lorde. It takes time to appreciate it but once you do, it's addictive. Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it's not good.

"Secrets from a Girl", "The Man with the Axe" y "California" lo mejor de ese pasaje. Sinceramente creo que es un buen paso para su evolución, sin quedar estancada y sin perder su esencia. Expand

No. Is it a good album? In my opinion yes. Is it disappointing? After a 4 year long wait yes unfortunately Solar power is a disappointment. Its not her best album but its still a worthy one. Its her most laid back album to date and yet there seems to be a lot missing. The opening track The Path is easily one of my favorite Lorde tracks of all time. Most of the tracks on here are pretty but forgettable. Ive warmed up to the singles Solar Power and Mood Ring but they still lack bite. I can almost guarantee that Lorde's next album will perhaps be her most personal and most mature and im looking forward to that. After three albums Lorde has two big hits and Solar Power is like a soft kiss in the wind. It wont leave a long lasting impression but its good enough for this moment now and hey maybe thats what Lorde is going for, she wants us to live in this moment now. ***1/2 out of 5 stars. Expand

The album encaptulate the whole young adult life and experience. Lorde is the kind of artist that narrates story based on life experience and she is now a 24 yr old woman who have real struggles in life. She's not 19 and on fire anymore. People need to move on and stop expecting a melodrama 2.0

Doesn't top Melodrama but it doesn't feel like it's trying to, it's a perfect summer record. My only complaint is that quite a few of the songs have a similar sound I wish she'd have switched some of them up a bit while still keeping that same mellow tone. Still amazing. Highlights for me are Fallen Fruit, Big Star and Stoned at the Nail Salon.

A beautiful album with a new sound. Cohesively beautiful. Comparing to melodrama solar power isn't as good some might say but the album in itself is amazing. Lyrically matured and beautiful. Oceanic feeling is one of the best songs on the album along with mood ring, the path and secrets from a girl.

All these connections Lorde is trying to make: her strange pastiche imagination of the ’70s, that random spoken word interlude by Robyn about climate change, and the themes of “sun healing,” never fully reach each other. Often, they come off as disingenuous and out of touch more than they read as brilliant, or comical. Whether the album is one big prank, or just one majorly failed experiment, the gist of having the “privilege to ignore” is lost in translation. All you are left with is just a handful of pretty alright songs.

If you're riding and vibing with Lorde, this bright shapelessness is superb mood music. If you're not riding her wave, Solar Power can seem elusive, even cloying, as it circles and sways with a smile.
