Intimate folk tunes with introspective lyrics delivered with Marling's uniquely beautiful vocal stylings. Relevant, passionate and stark. "Only the Strong" is breathtaking, and deserves to be heard by everyone struggling with loneliness in these trying times.

This album is stunning and a must-listen. I have never heard such an intimate album. Each track is mesmerizing and calming. Some of the best writing of the year. A clear consideration for album of the year

If you like your folk music modern and contemporary, this is as good an album as you'll hear in 2020. I've not heard much of Marling's stuff before this but she has it all. She is a great lyricist and has a gift for melodies. The songs sound like you've heard them before and have a timeless quality. Many of the songs stand out, while others simply flesh out the album.

Laura Marling has been in the music industry for over 10 years where I knew her in LUMP, a decent collaborative project between her and Mike Lindsay. But now that I hear her in a solo project I find her as an incredibly sensible, emotional, and intimate person. There's too much soul in this album that, all of a sudden, you find yourself reflecting about her lyrics and thinking about yourself to the border of tears. Produced by her along with Ethan Johns, each song has a value that comes from a lesson, and this one is born from an experience or story that shares with soo much emotion and simplicity that the journey is a collection of messages human enough to move immediately. This is a beautiful agreement between technique, matter, soul, and person. Bravo Laura Marling, and thank you.

I think the album "Song for our daughter", along with the album "Once I Was an Eagle", is the best album of Laura Marling so far! Very good folk rock music with great vocal. Many masterpiece tracks such as "Held Down" and "Fortune" make this album great.

Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, **** on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.

Will def give it a listen, but struggling with the math here a bit, how do two 100's and two 80's average out to a 95?

At just 30 years old and with seven albums to her credit, Marling's songwriting has been honed to a level of literate maturity that few artists achieve in their careers.

Song For Our Daughter is a mature and worthy work to serve as her latest statement. That its simply stated statements resonate all the more in a quieter time go to show that Marling’s instincts to deliver this gift to our doorsteps early were perfectly timed.

Marling's seventh solo LP has the clarity, mastery and quiet strength of a folk-rock classic. [Jul 2020, p.110]
