An astonishingly relevant album. [Mar 2006, p.112]
  2. Any number of tracks here could easily catapult them back into the consciousness of so much more than the cognoscenti.

One of the most vital and imaginative records that [Coldcut has] ever made. [Jan 2006, p.120]
  4. By pulling back on the "wow" factor and demanding less from the listener, Coldcut have delivered their first album that will be listened to twice as much as it's talked about.
  5. Its lack of focus often mutes its attempts to strike hard.
  6. "Everything Is Under Control" is worth a download, and Saul Williams's spoken-word performance on "Mr. Nichols" is worth noting, but how much of this record has been done before and how much of it will be done again? What Coldcut mix can you say the same about?
  7. It's as if More and Black set out to purposely compose a more "mature" album. By slowing things down they're able to accommodate R&B outings, spoken word stories and artsy offerings, but to be honest, it's not all that much fun.

Oh, there are those the requisite prosaic liberal coldcut politics! I wish you could get a lyric-only mix. Soooo cool-y.

Oh, that there weren't the requisite prosaic liberal coldcut politics. I wish you could get a lyric-free mix. Soooo corny.

They have tried to innovate by moving to a more song oriented structure, but most of these songs simply do not work. The album lacks any kind of coherence, and a couple of good tracks fail to save the album from mediocrity. Expand
