Hummingbird does not disappoint fans who like their R&B buzzing with a side of multitempo hip-hop.
-
Like the late Aaliyah (another protégé of Timbaland and Missy Elliott), Tweet recognizes the value of subtlety and understatement, but she also skillfully writes and produces or co-produces much of her own material.
-
It all blends together a little bit too much to be distinctive and, as such, it has a faint feel of product, a slow seduction record for the Timbaland-worshipping hipster set.
-
Provides a refreshing change of pace from the current formulaic R&B chanteuses.
-
It goes down better if you concentrate more on her charming voice and the tracks, rather what she is actually saying.
-
Tweet has the kind of voice that doesn't overpower her music but lets it breathe.
-
UncutOnly when she reels off her thank-yous at the end- a list as interminable as an Oscars speech - does she sound remotely happy. [July 2002, p.120]
