Sep 12, 2017Even the most contemplative cuts move with purpose and vigor and carefully plotted complexity. Long-time listeners might well miss the fizzing, popping, overload of good feelings that Eyes and A Certain Feeling brought on, but quieter, darker tunes have a value, too.

Q MagazineAug 31, 2017On this fourth LP, the hook-laden Here Among You is as celestial as pop music can be: if they have a breakout song it's this, but it's far from the only moment of magic. [Oct 2017, p.100]

MojoAug 31, 2017Meredith and David Metcalf craft slow-rolling CA ghost ballads, beguiling end-of-days stories with the same mournful beauty as The Triffids' Born Sandy Devotional. [Oct 2017, p.98]

Aug 31, 2017This isn’t super-catchy, sugary sweet pop music, but the record’s subtle melodies and hooks keep the songs interesting, regardless if those hooks are coming from a piano, guitar, or a chorus of voices.

Aug 31, 2017The album may take an unexpected tone, but it's not without its seductions. David Metcalf handles the majority of vocals with a haunting, Nick Cave-like quality that comes with an air of noir-ish suspense, and arrangements that highlight ensemble vocals and animated percussion without encroaching on the realm of stomping banjo folk are, at the time of release, a novelty.
