Kid Cudi's studio album "Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven" does some wrong, but does a lot right. This album has many tracks that are pretty bad, "The Return of Chip Douglas" being a prime example, that song is incredibly annoying to listen to. The Beavis and Butthead skits also do no work helping the tracklist out, making some songs unable to be added to playlists. While it's not his greatest album, it's still an amazing experience. It provides an excellent feel for alternative rock. This is definitely an underrated album.

Awful. Some of the worst sounding guitars I've heard. 'Man In The Night' was the worst listening experience I had in a long time. Guitars sounded like bad patches for a synthesizer, vocals not great and that outro.... Worst thing I've ever heard. The coughing made me genuinely nauseous for some reason. The whole album feels like its holding my breath hostage. On top of that songs like 'TheAwful. Some of the worst sounding guitars I've heard. This album has very high highs and very low lows. It didn't need to be 26 tracks long. It could have been 7-16 tracks and the bad songs could have been taken off. These changes could have made Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven a much better album.

FAVORITE TRACKS: CONFUSED!, Edge Of The Earth/Post Mortem Boredom, Embers, Handle With Care, Insides Out, Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven, Trauma, Wedding

    LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: SĂ©ance Chaos

FINAL THOUGHTS: The softer more gentle tracks on here are great such as Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven & CONFUSED!. On The Other Hand, tracks like SĂ©ance Chaos just don't sound good and try to go hard and end up just sounding corny as ****. Just remove the tracks like this and this would be an amazing album. The only track that goes hard and sounds good is Man In The Night which still has it's corny lines and flaws but actually has structure and sounds pretty decent.

Holy roly poly I'm in such a deep sleep from listening to this waste of a project I thought I was hit by a speeding bullet and going to heaven. Listen Cudi, you're a good guy, you're very influential and I respect you for that. But if you're gonna make a proper Lp MAKE IT AT LEAST LISTENABLE (I like your other stuff but this is just an abomination). Where was Kanye when you needed him???

Great album, not the usual cudi, and i doubt we're ever gonna see much of this cudi again, but it was a great stray away from his usual style. An amazing and essential part of Cudi's legacy

Kid Cudi bravely dares to give the floor to his mental and addiction issues. So yes, it is hard to listen to, it is different, it sounds different and sometimes it is painful. So yes, it is hard to listen to, it is different, it sounds different and sometimes it is painful. But that's the whole point of 'Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven'. You simply can't deny the fact that it is the most original album of the artist since his beginnings. However he let down the rap to try himself to some rock-punk and alternative indie music, and he should be encouraged to do so. I'm tired of predictable artists' works and Mescudi clearly went against the tide of the mainstream music.
Once you grieved the fact that this is NOT a hip-hop/rap album, you have everything to gain. Some songs are deep as the Mariana Trench, some songs are catchy as hell and yeah, some tracks are messy and reflect powerful anxiety and distress. Lyrics are a free pass to Cudi's past and present struggles and events. Dare to dive in here and let the show take you by the guts.

To all the people who 'want the old Cudi back', please just grow up and realize this project is a whole part of Cudi's personality. It contributed to make 'Passion, Pain & Demon Slayn'' and 'Kids See Ghosts' two amazing albums.

Just listened to this album for the first time. Cudi's greatest album, and i will go as far to say on my top 10 albums list. People bash on his vocals, but i find them beautiful. Cudi's vocals are always a little out of tune, but it works. Everyone who talked **** about this album can fight me in real life. I'm looking at you melon-man.

I'm not going to insist that everyone is listening to it wrong, nor am I going to make the overtly biased claim that this album is a masterpiece. It isn't. This album demonstrates Kid Cudi's willingness to put creative pursuit over the (at times) boring and flashy pop-rap wave that we're still wading in. To the braindead, Irish-punk-loving, self-harmers who dislike this album because "hurr durr it doesn't compare to [your favorite garage-founded band]," I'm no Cudi Stan, I don't think his discography is spotless, and I think WZRD is a mess of an album, but you know goddamn well you're talking out of your ass when you say it's one of the worst albums ever. The unwarranted butthurtness almost appears to be an anomaly until you remember Fantano gave it a zero, and he's the unquestioned master of all things music... if you're under the legal age of agreeing to Metacritic's terms and conditions.

Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven is an unremarkable, occasionally impressive venture into the mind of a man damaged by drugs and creative stagnancy. This is not horrible, the skits are not horrible, stop pretending like this album is the worst thing to ever happen to music.

Kid Cudi is a very talented man, but this album as a whole could've been something a lot more... instead, this album is messy, boring, and all over the place. Kid Cudi had the elements to make this album bigger outta the 26 tracks on it, but failed. Is it the worst album I've heard? No, but it's definitely... definitely... not the best.

To enjoy this album you would have to understand the artist. Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven is music for the frustration. Wanna throw something? Wanna break something? Wanna yell at something? This is your go-to album. For real CuDi fans ya would understand, its part of the journey. For hip-hop fans this album is not for ya.

This is what happens when you do drugs. Kid cudi went insane.

To be honest, this has some good lyrics that I'm sure some people can connect with, but the delivery and the instrumentals are just... so boring. Good lyrics, bad executions.
Edit: my bad the lyrics are awful, the more I read into them

I completely understand that Kid Cudi was trying to express himself differently and experiment with a different style of music that's completely out of his field, but it's safe to say that grunge just doesn't work with him. Cudi needs to scrap this idea and go straight back to the drawing board.

The song "Judgemental C**t" is great, it has this nice driving bass line and those heavy guitars. Kid Cudi, while not being the best at singing, he makes up for it with emotion and rhythm and also kind of with his lyrics. Besides that, i enjoyed nothing on that album, it was really godamn horrendous.

There are absolutely no redeeming qualities to this mess. If this album appeals to you, one of two things is happening:

    1) You are a Kid Cudi stan. He could literally record himself taking an impressively large I've-eaten-nothing-but-TGI-Fridays-for-a-month dump, sing about suicide and release it as an album and you'd likely give it just as high a rating as you've given this.

    2) You have never listened to any punk rock, grunge, garage rock or alternative rock prior to listening to this. If you are defending his lyrics, his musicality or his vocal talents, you're simply wrong and it's a matter of miseducation.

Don't listen to this. Save yourself the pain.

This is Kid Cudi's fifth studio album and yes it's a different direction than what we're used to, but I think that the album benefits from these changes. The singing that Cudi does really sends of message of pain and fear, which is what I believe Cudi wanted to show. It's easy to tell that at the moment he's at a low point and doesn't know were to go. All in all the album is not polished and slick like his previous releases, but I don't think that's what Cudi wanted. The album portrayed his ideas in a fresh way that is not usually seen in Hip-Hop. I fully support Cudi on breaking the mold of Hip-Hop and experimenting in the unknown. Expand

Knowing this was a rock album, I was curious to find out how these new elements would compliment his vocal talent. It's always fascinating when an artist experiments, but unfortunately the content offered on this album is unlistenable, plain and simple.

The album offers over 18 tracks and over the course of the LP Kid Cudi is either annoying you or boring you to tears. Some of the worst production imaginable plagues the entire record and the vocals just aren't up to par when compared to his previous efforts.

However, there are a few moments where it sounds like the album is trying to redeem itself, but these moments are just too vague and don't happen often enough to make up for everything else presented here. Songs like 'Man In The Night' and 'Judgemental C**t' have some great sounding guitar riffs, but it's just not enough.

There's nothing more to say here, other than the fact that this album just isn't great - both in terms of lyrical content and production. Kid Cudi is a fantastic artist and there's no denying that he has the ability to produce another solid body of work.

This album, however, should be avoided at all costs.

Speedin' is an uncomfortably internal album that's a pleasurable listen. It's not as gleefully nihilistic as Future, but comes across just as revelatory.
