Ariana Grande gets real and vulnerable on her fifth studio album. The raw emotion mixed with powerful vocals and catchy R&B production makes for a perfect album. How did this album score an 86, exactly? Will someone please explain that to me? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's genuinely curious. This album is definitely NOT a B+. The lyrics are predictably unimpressive, and the subject matter isn't any better. Most of it is shallow, lacking in any kind of substance and depth. When she IS singing about something meaningful (Needy), her tone is still so breathy and sexy that it ruins the atmosphere of the whole song. Expand

Para mí el mejor album de Ariana. Cohesivo, fresco, divertido.

Notice how every bad review comes from people who gave a 10 to Rare or Lover. Lmao they are just pressed of Ariana's success. Not my fave album but she really went in there. She transformed depression into beautiful songs. Not like Selena, whose songs aren't just written by hers and are generic, basic pop. If at least she knew how to sing...

When Ariana released 'thank u, next' only half a year after 'Sweetener', as a stan I was like "WOAH!"
However, on first listen, I did not like this album as much as Sweetener. After a year has passed, thank u, next is her second best album, behind Sweetener. My only issue with this album is that it feels like her most formulaic album since My Everything.

I will always cherish the Sweetner/TUN era of her career (April 2018-December 2019), even more since I got to see her for the first time on the Sweetener Tour last June.

This record has had my heart. It is extremely cohesive: every song on the album unfolds and conveys (sometimes rebelliously) the pain of a breakup but at the same time Ariana affirms her strength and is up to searching new feelings.

Ariana Grande came with an album exploring pop, r & b and trap, giving a very good sound, even the ghostin part, which is the most unnecessary part of the album.

thank u, next builds on Sweetener by switching modes of scale. It’s less about looking at the world than being by yourself, more focused on the textures of memory than our actions stemming from it. ... thank u, next is also Ariana’s most stunning vocal album.

[7 Rings] is a hit, but isn’t actually all that great, using Rodgers and Hammerstein’s My Favourite Things as its sing-song musical base. The rest of the album remains of interest for its evolutions in sound, delivery and attitude.
