This is a terrific album. I was fairly surprised to see Pitchfork gave it a 68.. seems like whomever wrote that review is not able to connect with Caroline's reinvented sound. I have to admit, it was such a pivot from Loner that I was a little taken aback by it. But in giving it a chance, and a real listen, it opened up and revealed its beauty.

    Love this record.

    Thanks Caroline!

I loved the poppiness of the tracks on Superstar and when I first heard the opening track Love / Lover / Friend I was perplexed because it was such a major shift in direction. A personal dissection of rediscovering oneself after a break up and daydream of expressing that in an arena musical spectacular. Expand

This entirely unique and vividly painted album was the most impactful album ever placed on my ears.

Caroline Rose’s most personal album to date which, while it may not have the immediacy of Superstar or Loner it will, given time, prove just as emotionally affecting.

Caroline Rose’s portrayal of a new beginning during the first three tracks of The Art of Forgetting is visceral and guttural. ... The tracks remarkably set the pace and atmosphere for the entirety of the record.

The move toward emotional exorcism on The Art of Forgetting is nearly as startling as Rose’s previous stylistic pivots. ... But individual songs, as carefully articulated as they are, tend to get swallowed up by the overarching psychological thrust of The Art of Forgetting: This is a mood piece capturing a specific frame of mind, even a particular era.
