This album is perfect. Her vocals are amazing and this is such a cohesive body of work with different artists. No skips. You have to listen to all the songs. Thank you Beyoncé for this masterpiece !

Afrobeat and love for her inner soul. From Europe we feel her embrace to Africa and all people that feel abandoned by the mass media society. Love this Queen

Good soundtrack. BIGGER takes me to another world, and the Deluxe Edition with BLACK PARADE breaks my soul. The African roots in this album make me say: MOTHAAARRRRRR.

Not in fact a gift. Im so grateful this is just a soundtrack album as if it had been a solo studio release it would be a return to the inconsistent albums of the 2000's. Choking on it's "africa" aesthetic it takes little effort for the record to feel like a gimmick. They are higlights such as "powa" which is a club ready thrill that allows smaller artists(some from my country) to shine or the ever growing notch in Beyonce belt of empowerment anthems " brown skin girl" tags her daughter(who would win a grammy for it )in celebrating the beauty that is black women. But the rest is genuinely frustrating such as the lifeless "mood4eva" or the irritating "biggger". Expand

Excellent album. It may need a few listen to be fully appreciated. Beyoncé never disappoints and these features are almost all good. Only a few songs ("Don't Jealous Me", "Ja Ara E", "Nile", and "Scar) aren't my cup of tea.

Is Beyoncé African? Maybe Creole? African American? Or simply a woman talking to other women? It remains a mystery. The right artist, who has been able to dig into her soul over the years. Maybe she got lost in too elaborate videos giving less space to the tracks. A good work, for those who are looking for new boundaries. Expand

The album itself is far from being the best but also not the worst. Though I have to complement Beyoncé and/or her management team, no one can beat those brand marketing strategies.

The guest spots occasionally overshadow the star. The Beyoncé-led tracks are of distinctly variable quality. For every song as good as the brilliant Black Skin Girl or Mood 4 Eva, there is something underwhelming. ... It’s an album, then, that ably displays her excellent taste, rather than a great Beyoncé album per se.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is probably my favorite soundtrack i have ever heard. It is nothing short of brilliant and excellent. The songs are in sync with the Lion King Movie as they celebrate the black identity and self discovery that is central to the film. Afrobeats was seamlessly fused with R&B and Hip Hop to create a great sound that unites black people all around, it was an insurmountable feat and Beyonce is the only artist who could have taken the initiative to bring all these people and sounds together. It has some lovely ballads like Spirit and Otherside in which Beyonce delivers riveting and powerful vocals. It has a badass female empowerment anthem in My Power which i will always listen to in the gym. It has the epic and grand collaboration Mood 4 Eva with a great Oumou Sangare sample and a great outro by Childish Gambino. Find Your Way Back is a great song with a bridge by Bankulli which you will sing along to without really knowing a word lol. Not to forget the afrobeats banger, Dont jEALOUS mE which will have you on your feet dancing and Water with Pharell and Salatiel which will make you move your body, the way God intended it. Its just a great concise project with so many epic and heartfelt moments. Expand

Looking at it after a few listens a year later, Beyoncé really made something extraordinary with this release. Through the carefully crafted, brilliant production, she showcases the traditional sounds and culture of Africa as we've never heard them before. She basically took what "The Lion King" had and made it grander. The vocals, both from Beyoncé and the incredible featured artists, really make this album great. Overall, "The Gift" is different, unique, and a must-hear, whether or not you like Beyoncé. Expand

''The Lion King: The Gift" is really an album that takes me elsewhere. Whenever I listen, the vocals of Beyoncé and her partners together with the sonority present in the songs, take me to the most beautiful African savannah and make me dance, cry and reflect with all the fight against racism and black power imposed on the album.

I remember when this album out, warm day and big headphones on my head. Playing "Bigger" as a first song just made me wow how precious is this song with her strong and expressive voice. Every other song was new for me with how it sounds. I listened this album again because I had to and I felt in love.
If you were put out this album with Black Is King it were be more sucesfull as it deserve.

Ultimately, The Gift is a deft balancing act that weighs personal songwriting flourishes and meaning with Disneycore tropes, as well as a sincere desire to celebrate the music of the African diaspora with its fundamentally commercial obligations.

On The Lion King: The Gift, Beyoncé deftly connects a kid's flick to something bigger, honoring not only Africa and its traditions but also shifting perspective to future destiny and greatness. It's a superior statement and a lesson on how to properly execute a winning soundtrack.
