Sea of Heartbreak
The lights in the harbor don't shine for me I'm like a lost ship adrift on the sea Sea of heartbreak, lost love, loneliness Memories of your caress... See the rest of the song lyrics

  1. Their contributions serve only to enhance Rosanne Cash's renditions of songs that Johnny Cash understood to delineate cornerstone facets of American culture.
  2. Although meant to honor?father Johnny’s musical tastes, The List better serves as an exquisite reminder of Rosanne’s own history of artistic rebelliousness.
  3. He'd be proud of what his little girl's done with that sheet of paper.
  4. Uncut

Twelve are here, and while Rosanne doesn't reinvent songs in the manner of, say, Cat Power, she does restate them briskly, with husband John Levanthal's production pushing her beautiful bell-like voice to the fore. [Dec 2009, p. 87]

It's all about Rosanne's voice. And she's rarely sounded better. [Nov 2009, p.96]
  6. The List is a testament to both Cash Jr.'s vocal talents and Cash Sr.'s catholic taste.
  7. Q Magazine

Sad to say, The List is an overly polite, lifeless collection of tried and trusted country standards apparently recommended as required listening by her father back in 1973. [Dec 2009, p. 126]

Awesome, the duets are especially good. The best part of the album is the duet with neko case!

Rosanne Cash takes those songs that her well-known father played to her and makes a new version of them with her fantastic voice, sometimes in duet with other well-known artists. The best song is "Sea of Heartbreak". A few, though, are a bit boring for my taste. I reccommend everyone (except hard rock/metal fans) to have a listen to it. Expand
