The slight inconsistency of The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues is enough to convince listeners that if this were a proper album and not merely a stopgap release to satiate the fans, the overall quality of the material would be stepped up considerably.

But after several more listens, and becoming more familiar with the songs, my love for this album grew to new levels. 10/10, there is so much to love here, and one or two listens just isn't enough for such an overwhelmingly powerful album. 30 minutes goes by in what feels like minutes, great work BTBAM. As ridiculous as the album title is, The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues is one hell of an EP. While their previous album faltered at timesAs ridiculous as the album title is, The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues is one hell of an EP. While their previous album faltered at times with trying to do too much, The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues accomplishes what that album didn't. Their last album sounded like it was trying to outdo their biggest album, Colors, and while it was a far more coherent affair, it became a victim to it's own ideas. This EP is a much more focused approach. It succeeds in sounding different without losing their signature sound. At what a sound that is. Their production is still top notch, and sounds incredibly clean, from the careful jazz transitions to the monstrous drum fills. This may be the best starting point for anyone interested in this band. Not everything is flawless though. The second song in particular hits a few of the same issues their last album did, but the finisher to the album is the best effort they've ever done. It may take a few listens, but The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues is definitely worth your time. Full Review »
