Amazing work. An album made with love and respect for the listener. It's a bit short, but the amount of passion and hours invested make the result worthy. The End is Now is probably my HMLTD's favourite track so far, and the stylistic gang-bang is very satisfying as it flows nicely.

And to think I was about to skip this album. HMLTD has come into form with "The Worm" and yet, this is just an essay exploring a single feeling and concept about inner parasites and brief existential reflections. I can only imagine what is coming by this band. I can only imagine what is coming by this band. I remember "West Of Eden" being a cool and similar exploration of a different concept, and feeling they needed to put all their ideas together in a more congruent way, and they just did it in something as easy as doing a school project. Good things are happening and this is feeding my hope in good music. Expand

Backed by a gospel choir, 16-piece string section and horn fanfares, HMLTD confidently tackle musical styles as varied as choral harmony (Worm’s Dream), hook-laden soul (The End Is Now), grungy rock (Saddest Worm Ever) and plaintive pop balladry (Lay Me Down). ... It’s this richness that gives the album its depth, harnessing a large ensemble to showcase HMLTD as a band capable of committing to grand visions with brilliant intensity.

As a 40-minute listening experience, it’s equal parts eccentric and impassioned, thought-provoking and out-there – if not exactly fun, given the mental-health issues, then certainly liberating, nourishing and thoroughly memorable.

This stylistic clusterfuck is likely to satisfy those who gobbled up Crack Cloud’s similarly ambitious shift to expansive instrumentation. And if you’re just downright confused by the whole preposterous thing, that’s probably just fine too.
