I did not have high expectations for this album when he announced it for some reason. From start to finish Logic takes you on a journey through his life. This is no doubt the best hip-hop album of 2014 and the best since gkmc.

This album is simply everything. A lot of people have already said it is the best hip-hop album since GKMC and then there have also been a lot of people who talk about him copying Kendrick. Logic is a really honest artist and he has stated that he is not only influenced and inspired by the legends of the old days, but also by new greats such as J. Cole & Kendrick Lamar. I find it strange how people can appreciate new school lyricists for sampling the veterans or taking inspiration from them but not when a new artists appreciates another new (relatively) artist such as Kendrick. GKMC has been labeled the best thing in hip-hop and nothing thus far has been able to top it. So where's the logic in Logic not appreciating a project as big as GKMC by taking inspiration from it? Exactly. Logic still holds his own by telling his story instead of someone else's over brilliant production, by switching up his flow and still holding it down lyrically. He's definitely not the most complex lyricist in the game but far above average still and also very easy to connect and relate to. My personal favorite rap album of the year and possibly my AOTY. Support it if you can! Expand

I was hyped for this album, and when I heard it, it exceeded my expectations. This album should cement Logic as one of the best New School rappers tbh. This album is almost as good as GKMC.

Logic is a great storyteller who paints amazing imagery. This is definitely the best album of 2014. Logic has proved to us all that he's going places soon.

This album is extremely similar to the 2012 Kendrick Lamar masterpiece by the name of good kid, m.A.A.d city. The song "Under Pressure" is an almost exact copy of Sing About Me, Dying of Thirst. I absolutely love GKMC and I love this too. Logic is now my second favorite rapper behind Kendrick.

Honestly I feel as though no album SHOULD be perfect. But to me, this album is flawless. No skips, no cringe, and I personally like the robot voice. If you are a fan of hip hop in general pick this up. Great album.

I loved this album from Intro 'Til the End (get it?). Logic is back with acclaimed producer No I.D and 6ix. I loved every song on this album. 6ix had some great beats, but overall, the most attractive aspect of this critically-acclaimed album is Logic's flow and lyricism. No album is perfect, but this is the closest album that is to it.

Under Pressure is one of the most honest, realistic, respectable albums that have come out in while. Its good representation of telling the story of the struggle and of young man growing up and in and out of the struggle. This album perfectly paints a picture in your head of how growing up on welfare and around narcotics is and how it was daily routine for Logic. This album perfectly paints a picture in your head of how growing up on welfare and around narcotics is and how it was daily routine for Logic. Logic is not just telling you what he sees he's painting the picture of what he's sees. He gives you chapters or events of his life through each track explaining his childhood his come up and things he's experienced growing up as child and into the young man he is today. Logic story telling is so strong with this album its something that makes the album very unique. In no way I see logic copying any other artist with this album in my opinion I have not seen any other artist out now paint a picture so well, the way Logic describes and paints the struggle and the issues he faced growing up is so well that it can really move you. The sonic's and beats for this album are so amazing that it showcases Logic's creativity and story telling even more and helps paints the story more clear and helps you appreciate his rapping ability and story. Overall great album that showcase the real life struggle of drugs and violence in America really recommend this album. Listen to it with an open mind don't listen to the critics and listen to it and decided for yourself what the album is. Expand

I don't have anything bad to say about this album. I like every song as the production is well crafted and Logic's lyrics are sharp with good subject matter. His flow is insane as well. Excellent debut. Still listening to it in 2019!!

He's one of the only rappers I like to listen to nowadays anyway.

Logic is my favorite white rapper, and for good reason. This album has phenomenal production, amazing wordplay, incredible flow (but what do expect with Logic :) ), and some of the most personal stories that Logic has ever told us. This is my 7th favorite rap album of all time, and it will stay that way. Never stop rapping, Logic. 10/10

For a debut album, this was exceptional. Logic had been releasing stellar projects up to this point, and UP did not disappoint. Music / Instrumentals are extremely compelling, with bouncy beats and hard bass. Flow and lyricism is exceptional, creating great songs one can listen to as classics for years to come.

A truly classic. Logic at his best form, I would say. Songs like Nikki — they can take you through the old nostalgic times. In my opinion - "Under Pressure" — his best album he's ever done.

Without a doubt Logics Masterpiece. The production and storytelling is great, this was the perfect follow-up from the Young Sinatra mixtapes. With every song being an 8 at the minimum, there are no skips here, whether it be the incredible intro, soul food, gang related, buried alive, bounce, GP3, Metropolis, Nikki, Under Pressure, Till the End, or Alright, every song here is phenomenal. Not exactly sure why this album is constantly compared to GKMC, but the comparisons take away from how great this album is as a stand alone project. The beat selection is very well rounded with creative songs that tackle different topics such as nicotine addiction, gang violence, overcoming obstacles, and family issues. This album may not be perfect, but has very good replay value. This album may not be perfect, but has very good replay value. The beat transitions mid song make the album tempo very entertaining, the lyrics are sound, and Logic's delivery is very polished and unlike most radio artist. This could be contender for Rap AOTY, but unfortunately this album has been eclipsed by Run the Jewels 2 and Cadillactica.

Personal experiences are what fuel this album. While I did mention that he lacks a true identity melodically, and although his up-and-coming rise to fame from a rough background is nothing new topically (especially in hip-hop), Logic can convey these messages in such a relatable way that it doesn’t feel forced, and it doesn’t feel preachy. This album is a brilliant debut. It isn't a single filler (everyone loves a single filler), it is a completely different outlook compared to his mixtapes, and although it seems 'borrowed' off of GKMC I thoroughly enjoyed it. Logic's Under Pressure is a fantastic debut album. I really love Logic's message that he constantly puts out there. The lyrics were great and the music is catchy. I don't think this album is as good as his earlier mixtapes but it isn't horrible either. In the end, this is a wonderful album and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes good music.

Young Sinatra turned into mainstream Logic. fresh out from his basement with the hit Mixtapes, straight fire by the way. this project was the true staple in his career. fresh beats, fresh bars, fresh concept and the right amount of features for a rappers debut album (which is NONE). favorite track is "Metropolis" classic boom bap with a new sound at the time, dont pass this one up.

It’s not a verbatim copy of Kendrick’s work, but it’s every bit the stylistic counterfeit, and while it, along with the other mentions above, could be seen as imitations done in reverence had they been released on a free mixtape, their use on an album is no doubt a calculated effort to profit off of the ideas and work of another who did it first, in an attempt to capitalize on the ignorance of those listeners who may not know better.
