While this is a great album, it's a real shame that it takes someone to die to get excellent reviews by critics. This goes for a lot of re-releases, getting almost perfect scores. How brave of them, so many years after the event. The same critics weren't so kind when the album was released. Critics should be ignored at the best of times. This album is a country folk indie masterpiece! So clearly the forbearer for the early 2000's wilco ,bright eyes ,ellioot smith boom. His voice is sincere and quite and each song similar enough to be cohesive but dynamic enough to keep interested.

What a treat! We finally get to hear “All the Rest” from the Wildflowers sessions. The home recordings are beautiful; the quality and production are almost as good as the album! The Super Deluxe also has alternate versions of album tracks in addition to live versions.

It’s hard to argue against Wildflowers as one of Tom Petty’s highest masterpieces, especially after listening to Wildflowers & All the Rest. It’s a gift from the musical gods that the extra material here has been unearthed to contribute to our understanding and appreciation of the album. All of it demands repeated listens to take in its beauty and brilliance.

What makes Wildflowers & All the Rest worth perusing is the home recordings. As the record takes shape in Petty's home studio, we understand how Petty managed to make Wildflowers so uniquely devastating.

This is a fantastic box that will occupy fans for the next few weeks and months, but it’s also a superb gateway into the world of Tom Petty for those who like both pretty things and great music (and have a few bob to spare).
