Another disappointing Muse album. From the latest you can pick up one or two songs but the rest are dubious. It's those great details that make me tune out of the album. They don't seem to have much left in the tank for this band that has marked me so much. Expand

Same sht different day, Muse is not Muse anymore, and they confirm that every new album. SHAME

I liked them better when they tried to copy Radiohead. I will give this album a light 3.

Have you ever heard a Weird Al song made in the style of some other artist? That's what each song on Will of the People sounds like. This album is a self parody. One decent songs, decent parts in two or three other songs, but overall it's just not good.

L'album est vraiment décevant. Muse avait annoncé un album métal, on se retrouve avec de la pop....

This is one of the most awkward albums I’ve heard in a while. None of the songs fit together, the songwriting is messy, and the instrumentals are basically taking the most typical forms of a bunch of different genres and doing them very sloppily. Not liking the direction that this band is going.

Muse 'music' has become so tedious I had to recently revisit their earlier work just to remind myself why I used to like them.

I appreciate the effort. I guess this is certainly better than a "greatest hits" compilation album. Still, as others have mentioned the album is missing soul. It's ironic that a group that sings so much about the struggles of humanity manages to create music that feels so lacking of it. The production quality is great, but the songs feel very formulaic and overly polished. The lyrics feel terribly simplistic and childish. I think those characteristics tend to be better applied to concept albums where the simplicity of each song can lend itself to a larger idea rather than a mash-up album like this.

I never was a fan of every style of Muse, and that comes through here as well. I ended up liking six out of ten tracks, but there are really only two standouts for me: Won't Stand Down and Kill or Be Killed. Overall, this just makes me want to listen to old Muse more-so than the album itself.

The best muse album out of their past 3 releases but the band is stretching further and further away from their glory days with no turning back.
This album has one memorable song (Kill or Be Killed) but the rest are immemorable which you think it would be memorable as the album spans across multiple genres which you think would make the tracks stand out to each other.
    But No, each track

The vague political signals make this album so corny and obvious. It’s a huge eye roll for me.

As much as we are "F*cking f*cked" according to Muse, they still choose to charge their fans £90+ per ticket to see them live, the same day we have an 80% energy bill rise, which is hilariously hypocritical considering many songs on this new album are a commentary on the UK government, COVID, lock-downs and revolting against it.

its nowhere near the calibre of their past albums,

An all over-the-place album that has only one memorable song ("Kill or Be Killed"). Yeah, some songs are fun, especially the last ones, but Muse feels like a joke now.

Also, a very bad song about Halloween.

Their best in years. Was thinking that the title track and compliance hinted at a bad album, but was pleasantly surprised at how good the album is. Best track is kill or be killed for me.

Interresting "best of" album , it's pretty ease to listen , and its maybe the best since The Resistance , the lyrics are bad but we know we don't listen Muse for this , still a solid album .

Always surprised. You can never listen to a new album and know what to expect. This album is no different. I keep waiting for the possible decline... How could a band turn out great album after great album for decades? I'm here to tell you Muse delivers.

I must confess I haven't loved a Muse album all the way through since "Absolution" but this one absolutely smokes!! It sounds like a band who has re captured the youthful energy of their early stuff and cranked it up to 11. Great album with high track diversity. Though this may feel to some like a lack of identity, I felt like a kid in an amusement park, experiencing a whole new ride with each track. It goes happy, it goes aggressive, it goes sad, it goes epic. I never got bored listening to the album, even if there are (only few) songs that didnt click.

Almost perfection. Glad to have gotten this as a “Greatest Hits” rather than an actual GH album. Something here for everyone, whether a Showbiz/OOS era fan or beyond. Liberation, WAFF, Verona, YMMFLIH the highlights in amongst the remaining, excellent, tracks. No doubt these will be spectacular live. Enjoy!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. How can I sum up Will of the People? Crazy? Stupid? Genius? I think that all of these words apply. This is one of the iconic band's best works to date, spanning synth-pop to alt-metal and everything in between. Matt Bellamy has always been divisive in both his political views and musical style (you either are mind blown and compelled by everything he touches or greatly repulsed). For me, Bellamy represents how far rock as a genre can stretch, a theme that is carried on in this album.

Some of the tracks on this album brought me to tears. The soaring synths of Verona combine sounds of both Glorious and Madness, surpassing both of them. Kill or be Killed is a modern Stockholm Syndrome, crashing into existence with a guitar tone that would satisfy even the most hardcore of fans. Ghosts succeeded in its attempt to (finally) update the band's ballad formula, and manages to capture the hearts of those fans who are still missing a modern Unintended. The closing track is almost a copy of Knights of Cydonia, wrapping the listener up in a crashing guitar solo and intentionally hilarious lyrics that are sure to have you chanting 'STOCKPILE' for hours after.

From the 80's synth-pop of 2018's Simulation Theory, to the blissful, dark indie of 1999's Showbiz, Muse's growth as a band has been at the forefront of rocks innovation. And, putting aside the politics and the hilarity, Will of the People truly is an encompassing, fun, and brilliantly stupid album.

Real MUSE masterpiece in years. After many experiments it is a perfect blend of early years hard rock and synthy pop melodics of last years. Driving and melodic at the same time. Summing up LP the same way it was for The Resistance.

All of these moments lurch through time without any thought of build or denouement—no tension, no release, no narrative. Muse parade their influences while giving us all comical winks.

It’s all consistently inventive rather than dull, but also endearingly daft rather than chilling. Still, that makes for Muse’s most enjoyable album since the 00s.
