A Common Turn is a questing and provocative record that’s both remarkably dynamic and audaciously exposing.

While these influences [Nick Drake and Ella Fitzgerald] are certainly present, A Common Turn is undeniably and entirely Savage’s own; these are her trials and confessions, and it’s a stroke of great bravery and generosity for her to have released them in this enrapturing manner.

This is a gem of an album. Personal, honest and highly emotive, it tackles big questions; but most of all, it dares to be vulnerable.

Baroque pop at its most exhilarating. [Mar 2021, p.89]

From start to finish, A Common Turn takes you through Savage’s liberating highs, all whilst throwing you her turbulent lows – a raw and emotive album, to say the least.

Blended with earnest acoustic guitar picking and rattling electronic production, the young songwriter reveals a bright future at the end of personal agony. [Feb 2021, p.35]

A Common Turn serves as an excellent commentary on modern life, with some intensely personal struggles that others might be wary of sharing, lined up and forensically examined.

"A intimate album, and for sure a not sweet one"

A common turn is not something you gonna expect here, starting by a intro that really don't give you a clue of what is comming on.
And it goes on along the tracks making yourself ask what this album is really about, and this happens for a mixture of calm instrumentals playing heavy melodies singed by Anna "haunted" voice about unsettling lyrics.
It's not a lovely type of album, but it's a lovely experience.
