It’s still a work that’s defined by its own dynamism. Anyone following these guys from the start won’t have doubted their capabilities, but that doesn’t stop A Dream Outside from dwarfing expectations.

Floaty angst in abundance, Gengahr have produced an all encompassing soundtrack to this year’s briefest romances and most curelly broken hearts.

    This is savvy, intelligent music.

Though the grit they show on Where I Lie suits them well, it is in their more energetic moments, like Lonely As A Shark and Heroine that Gengahr shine. [13 Jun 2015, p.53]

The result is a record that cloaks Gengahr’s inherent weirdness in peaceful melodies you’ll want to wallow in for hours.

Occasionally, as on freak folk opener Dizzy Ghosts, Bushe’s voice gets a little lost among Victor’s tangled guitar lines, but overall theirs is a sound that lingers.

As debuts go, it’s not on the same level as their mates Wolf Alice, but it is a compelling listen and a worthy addition to any burgeoning music library.

It’s Gengahr's commitment to weirdness on A Dream Outside that puts them many streets ahead.

They don’t manage to sustain such a high quality throughout--the final three songs are certainly expendable--but there’s plenty of promise here.

She's A Witch's tumbling harmonies, the tessellating grooves of Dark Star and Bushe's surrealist lyrical skew help cast a dazed spell. [Jul 2015, p.106]

Im not normally one for listening to full albums beyond the first 6 songs, but this makes me a complete convert! Although 'She's a Witch' isIm not normally one for listening to full albums beyond the first 6 songs, but this makes me a complete convert! Although 'She's a Witch' is only a moderately strong single for dream pop/alternative in my opinion, the real gems are to be found deeper in with 'Powder', 'Embers' and 'Fade 2 Black' my personal highlights - all could get mere deserved recognition! All I have to say is it is an exquisite album perfect for listening to, and despite me overplaying it, still doesn't get old. The Best rounded album i have ever listened to hands down :)

P.S: Against expectation due to their musical style, live they are a seriously awesome experience to have witnessed
