This successor is strings-free, but goes further still [than 2014's This Is My Hand]. [Apr 2019, p.94]

She has a versatile voice, an impressive self-awareness about how best to use it, and a sense of drama that makes her songs--and this album--resonate in unexpected ways.

Nova's smoky, sullen vocals sometimes sound a little stilted, but she surpasses herself on "You Wanna See My Teeth," a cinematic mini-symphony inspired by the killing of Trayvon Martin, which moves through nervy electro and anguished rock to screaming rage. [Feb 2019, p.30]

Most of the songs on A Million and One burrow between ecstasy and threat, Nova’s voice playing at the edges of those feelings.

The beauty of A Million and One lies in the way that repeated plays will reveal blithe pop songs formed into dynamic and vibrant tunes that pack some power and buzz, justifying the similarities to the innovative and well established female artists mentioned [Goldfrapp, Fever Ray, Annie Lenox, and Regina Spektor].

A Million And One displays My Brightest Diamond's experimental range. The individual cuts sometimes rattle against each other discordantly as a way of bringing attention to the separate songs. That's good, but there is something peculiar about the way in which the album doesn't cohere.

Heartache, triumph, anger, and resolution all feel reported on from behind a melting wall of ice, drowned out ever so slightly by the sound of a late-night party raging somewhere in the distance.

One in a million sem dúvidas é um dos album mais perfeitos já criados. A estética e a arte presente nesse album é impecável.
