  1. Sounds utterly contemporary even as it harks to the band's glory days.
  2. A record that handily bests anything that they've put out in the last 15 years, and can stand head and shoulders against their best efforts of the '80s.
  3. Their strongest effort since their strong run in the mid/late-'80s.

Quintessential Church, imbued with an ethereal beauty that characterizes the best of their work.... However, nearly every song runs too long. [#34, p.61]

It is the sound, and grace, that the Church have pursued for more than two decades, and maybe you've heard it before. But you've rarely heard it better. [28 Feb 2002, p.61]

Calmed, timeless, relaxing... A timeless album, maybe the best ever done by this great band.

Goes beyond Starfish and UTMW, while retaining some of the characteristic Church sound that showed back then, the title track and Radiance stand out, Chromium, Numbers and Seen It Coming are not far behind in quality. The recently released "Parallel Universe" is a good companion to After Everything, with remixes of those songs and a second CD of outtakes from those sessions. Full Review »
