  1. The band strips away any hard kicks and allows each song to quietly pulse at a more human pace. Ironically, the album feels best suited for traveling.
  2. Again and Again is a beast of a different color, the sound of a classic New Order or Pet Shop Boys track--if someone had first sunk his incisors in and drained the blood from it.

A promising contender, rather than the champ. As nice as Again & Again is (and it is "nice"), in 2011 there are simply bigger fish dishing this electro, pop art revivalism up more convincingly and, crucially, with more personality.

All in all it's a very enjoyable album, if at times a rather strange one.
  5. Again and Again is at times hindered by the sonic limits of its vintage-based instrumental palette, and lacks the instinctive "one should really know better" appeal of the preceding full-length release.
  6. A light but pervasive dusting of flanger effects and wavy-tuned synths makes the melodies sound cloudy and unfocused. Even the singles don't especially stand out.

Again and Again is an atmospheric album, but it suffers under often nonsense lyrics, uninspired vocals and borrowed production. It doesn't leave a lasting impression.
  8. Thieves are excellent hijackers, but you could just pick up a New Order or Joy Division album for a more authentic experience.
