  • Summary: The 50th Anniversary Edition of the rock band's 1968 album was remastered by Bob Ludwig. The vinyl version includes a separate 12" vinyl of the mono-version of "Sympathy For the Devil" and a copy of the Japanese-only bonus flexi-disc that included a 1968 telephone interview with Mick Jagger.

    The 2018 Beggars Banquet is classy slim-line history: clean, heavy vinyl with restored artwork (but no linernotes); a 12-inch platter with a mono mix of Sympathy; and a flexi-disc, originally included in the 1968 Japanese pressing of the LP. ...     Amid the superior pieces like "No Expectations" and more minor moments of parody and innuendo, jammed endings on songs like "Salt Of The Earth" embrace a real joy in improvisational ensemble playing. ...     Rejoice in the music of Beggars Banquet that sounds as vital today as when it was released five decades ago. But unless you’ve got money to burn, it’s best to stick with the existing versions of one of the Rolling Stones’ most immersive and enduring works.
