On Bella, Thompson is once again in the crossfire of a stop-start relationship. [March 2011, p. 109]

Bella is a flat-out stunner, the work of a completely original songwriter and performer, and one of the young year's most startlingly eclectic and thoroughly fascinating albums.

Teddy Thompson doesn't answer all his questions about women on Bella (of course, for most guys, that would take a box set), but the ones he ponders here are smart and come from the heart, and it makes for an album that will please longtime fans while encouraging newcomers to hear what he has to offer.

  7. The soundtrack to Jennifer Aniston. Nice. Attractive. Hygienic.

Thompson's newest album, Bella, is a logical follow-up to his 2008 release, offering a similar mixture of folk, country and soft rock.

Don't let the ridiculously low score fom one publication that no one has ever read let alone influenced discourage you from getting thisDon't let the ridiculously low score fom one publication that no one has ever read let alone influenced discourage you from getting this album. If you aprpeciate Teddy's sophisticated approach to music and lyrics, you will find this to be one of his best. Granted, fine voices, melodies, production may take a back seat to bombast and alt-reflection on the radio these days, but if there's room in your music collection for an outstanding album that you will savor upon repeated listenings, don't miss Bella!
