Mostly, though, it is the unusual, the artificially-generated and the unexpected that characterise this music. Where this works best--as, indeed, it does on most of this compelling album--the band manage to corral the diverse elements together into something that is more than simply cohesive.

The compositions on this LP are governed by order, but they, crucially, possess innate groove and the good sense to make things entertaining rather than merely clever.
  3. Jun 2, 2011

Build With Erosion is the kind of enjoyably sound-damaged effort where stylistic intrusions feel like just that, and not much more.
  4. Jun 2, 2011

The result is an experimental pop album that's easy to appreciate, but difficult to fully connect with.
  5. Jun 2, 2011

Build with Erosion casts a wide net, but its 11 songs still cast a consistent mood, falling somewhere between pleasantly hypnotic and purposely peculiar.

They scrunch together Animal Collective-style off-kilter tech pop, new wave, ghetto bass and even twisted tango. [Jun 2011, p.97]
  7. Q Magazine

At times rapturous, it's the title track's mix of dub effects and PiL-inspired vocals that grabs the ears most effectively. [Jun 2011, p.107]
