Chromatica is an album struggling to find an identity within a modern day music landscape, that has unflatteringly obvious flaws and issues painfully stemming from Lady Gaga's lack of artistic or musical creative effort, and hence more lack of cohesive sound or vision.

Gaga has possibly released the most underwhelming album in recent memory. This thing lacks direction, cohesion or differentiation from its predecessors and its modern competition. It has so many sounds, ideas and potential that is shoved into a clunky, awkward and often boring musical and lyrical route, that masks its misused and untouched sounds and ideas as some kind of artistically driven vision. It looks as though Gaga has, disappointingly, seen an opportunity to latch onto sounds that look appealing to general audiences - yet failing to pair most of those sounds to something resembling anything more than poor. It lacks depth, meaning, rhyme and reason and doesn't deserve to be held in any sort of high regard.

Stuffed with inconclusive experimentation and befuddlingly unsatisfying musical elements, Chromatica appears as a leech onto music that, in theory, appeals to the most people possible. The execution of this, however, is basic, uninteresting and ambiguous in its message, if it even has one. From the cold and raw dance house pop of "Alice" to the surface level emotive disco-reminiscent of "1000 Doves," this body of work feels messy at best. The tether between what Gaga needs and wants to do is muddied in ambiguity and her vocals come off as eerily unpleasant in most of the times she tries to emphasise her voice. It seems as though the intent for this was to have Gaga return to a somewhat comforting dancefloor sound, but with little to no effort to have any semblance of artistic growth or sonical depth.

In the grand scheme of her musical career, Chromatica is a harsh reminder of Gaga's failure to keep the edge and flair she once held so pristinely, as she battles modern-day musical trends and struggles to re-establish herself as a musical force. This album epitomises devolved and uninspired musical artistry, and makes me doubtful she will be able to reclaim the sound she has been so desperately chasing for years.

Certainly one of Gaga's best albums, she gets it right in this new era. The harmonization of the songs, the transitions, the production of the album is perfect! From the album stands out "Sine From Above" the feat with Elton John that is simply electrifying and at the same time sad.

With an extreme effort lady Gaga create a stretched 43 minutes album 4/4 kick + snare or hh or clap + 4 random notes. Flat, nothing new, not even a single spark of creativity. Ok, it’s a dance album, but it doesn’t mean it has to be that flat.

The most basic of albums....I see Gaga hasn't left her habbit of making a career out of only visuals with little musical inspiration...I thought Joanne was a move away from that but I was wrong....the sounds are some of the most uninspired dance pop sounds and the lyrics extremely corny. The collabs don't bring anything to the table either.

An adrenaline fueled dance pop record, a return to Gaga’s EDM roots which she popularized almost a decade ago. Orchestral interludes transitioning to club bangers is something I never thought would be possible but Gaga proves she is a musical genius yet again. The lyrics are personal and emotional. 10/10 for the album.

It isn’t a bad album, but she has produced better music. The pros of the album are that it feels very cinematic, the interlude makes it like we're walking through a film so as a whole it does keep you gripped in. There are some stellar songs on here such as Rain On Me, 911 and Babylon and the record I feel is another part to Artpop with its experimental sound.

However, the drawback is mainly with the production and that I think it is really overproduced and is very overpowering. It may be a dance record and it is successful in making you want to dance but still I want to hear Gaga’s voice without being distracted with what’s going on in the background.

The production in this album is pure joy, and the beats are amazing. It mixes perfectly the EDM from the 2010s with 90s and 80s influences and also futuristic touches. Her voice/way of singing changes a lot between every song, and adds more diversity to the tracks. The interludes add so much to the album and the transitions are super smooth and perfectly placed.

Lady Gaga's long-awaited return to pop is just not it. She honestly tries her best, but the mark was missed. Gaga's past works are composed of timeless and nostalgic-aging pieces, but every song here already feels dated. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Why I gave a 10 to Chromatica?. Well, my review goes beyond the Album because experiences, history and the context matters, those thing brings details and they enrich the artist's work. So Chromatica is the sixth album by Lady Gaga after several years she's returning to dance/pop music properly so we have expectations and of course a little bit of nostalgia. So last night the first time that I hear the new album I was feeling different emotions, and as soon as Chromatica I started I was transported into a portal, a portal that was taking me to Chromatica, and then I heard MY NAME.... ISN'T ALICE, BUT I KEEP LOOKING, KEEP LOOKING FOR WONDERLAND. The beat drops and I couldn't help it, I dance to it. And the hype start to decrease as I got through the released singles. Until Free Women's Turn. It's a song that rises to an electric and emotional, empowering ending. Me a Gay men screaming so hard I'M A FREE WOMAAAAAAAAAAAN!. It was just too much, specially because the song has very strong and meaningful message. Next Chromatica II & 911, the transition OK, A masterpiece. Also 911 is produced by Madeon and I personally think he's one of the most talented and young electronic dance music producers right now. (He previously work on MJH), so I knew what to expect a heavy Synth with a strong bass and lows and catchy electronic voice chop/noise details. But still was more than that, the production quality UGHH, The lyrics and the transitions between the songs parts it's just well made, and very fluid, 911 Catches you instantly. Following this one: Plastic Doll, plastic doll starts with an intro very GagaThefameStarstruck way, it was the perfect followed up for 911. I don't have many impressions for this one, except that it's Pop bubble pop plastic technologic POP. which is perfect for the concept of the song. Then Sour Candy starts to play and (it's funny cause to me was kinda new but not so much cause it got released early this day) So I knew her already but I enjoy it Like it was new... So Blackpink did an amazing Job, they sound so cool and fun (the corean verses were a nice detail), We hear Gaga on her commander's Robotic voice which was a very good contrast against the sweatness by Blackpink). Chromatica II & Sine from above, here's where I think the Climax of the Album happens, a Collaboration between Gaga and a Legend like Elton John couldn't be less than that. (here I will stop and say that we already have seen these two together, many times) BUT not like this... It's a little bit celestial and divine for a few reasons the lyrics, Gaga tells the story of how music has help her since the beginning and how always music always has been the answer and solution to many problems, and how much she has grow up work so passionate to be where she stands right now. Now the production is a MONSTER (another paused, here the ones on charge of this one is Bloodpop, Burns, Axwell, Klahr, and Liohn [these last ones are huge producers on the EDM scene, Axwell belongs to SHM with that I already say it all] So knowing this I was a little afraid of this song sounding Too EDM and a little bit 2013ish. But Nope, I mean yes is a dance record but still fresh and pop and emotional, the sound takes you all the way with the feeling of it and at the end the outro explodes into an orgasm of the instrumental, 90s drums and electronic synths make you kinda feel in a trip.

Babylon here we are at the end of the record and Gaga want to makes us dance with a track very 90s, Chicago House Pop sound, and this one is to close the Album Voguing the house down until the sun rise up this one is a Radical acceptance of the truth and what's not, Gaga invite us to take life not so serious and wear then chains and each one's truth with pride. Have a ball, enjoy and Battle for your life on the dancefloor.

In general this album make me dance since the beginning until the very last second of Babylon, I think this album is important for us, pop music, and Gaga, for different reasons, first we needed this, Today we're on the middle of a worldwide pandemic, everyone struggling in their own way, and this record got us 43 of relief. The context is important and I can't help to think how would it be the reception of this album if everything wouldn't be OK. Well I'm pretty sure that would be muchmuch bigger a huge celebration on everywhere's dancefloor. But no and this take us to Pop music let's be honest now in days pop mainstream albums are not successful or enough. and Chromatica came to change this came already as a triumph and a reclaiming of the dance floor for Pop music and last but no least Gaga, this album deserves a 10 because I can see and every Fan that has follow her journey sees it too that this album shows that she is that Legendary Pop star and she owns the dancefloor. But most importantly that she enjoy and making this album made her happy and heal her in many different ways. Can't wait to see what else this era brings.

It's a basic album! Lady Gaga's a beautiful singer and lovely ever, but the new album could be better.

I hope it is just not me to feel that every single song in the album sounded the same. a little but dissapointed since this is her most anticipated album ever. i rather stream born this way and artpop over chromatica.

I really wanted to love this album, but there were so many hindrances that prevented me to fully enjoy this album. The biggest issue I had with this album was the production. The biggest issue I had with this album was the production. I understood that Gaga was aiming for a dancepop album, but many of the tracks bordered on the generic europop trend of the early 2010s which instantly makes the album sound very dated, Not only that, melodically and lyrically nothing really stood out on many of the tracks and many of them ended up melding together and not really standing out. I also felt that the interlude instrumentals were kind of unnecessary besides "Chromatica II" that transitioned really well into the track "911".

Despite this, this album is very inoffensive and if you are into this europop sound, you will likely really enjoy this album. The themes that this album delves into and some of the lyricism on the verses are very resonant as Gaga explores depression and the hardships that follow superstardom. The standout tracks are definitely "Rain on Me"(which is arguably one of the better pop singles released this year) and "Sine From Above" which is prompted by some of the strongest lyricism on the album and great chemistry between Gaga and Elton John on the track.

Overall, it's definitely not Gaga's worst work, but it is definitely a very "safe" and somewhat disposable album from an artist that is capable of much better.

‘Hello!? Fans? I’m here! Don’t forget about me. I want to make a little money. Let me google search what you guys like and bring you everything that is sure to score. No creativity or risk on this album, familiar sounding euro-pop and deep house that sounds like you’ve heard it all before. Nice huh? To make it less obvious that these songs are nothing extraordinary and quite forgettable, I’ll throw in some profound sounding lyrics and talk about them like they are really deep and personal. You might buy into that because I talk so very serious about it in this interview’ Expand

The only note I could give for the best album of the year. Just accept the greatness of Mother Monster and evaluate this art positively ... This dance floor is only hers, she fought for.

Rain on me >>>>>

The nostalgia in the production — a blend of crisp digital synth textures and ringing grooves drawn directly from '90s house music — further bolsters the shadowed euphoria of a song like "Sour Candy," in which Gaga is joined by the K-pop girl group Blackpink; "Sine from Above," featuring Elton John, gets a similar friction from the interplay between their voices.

Infectious, exciting and even a little hedonistic during some of the most confusing of modern times, now’s never been a better time to get lost in this new destination.

Chromatica’s frank grappling with the vagaries of Gaga’s brain – and the way fame exacerbates them – ends up feeling much more real than touring dive bars with a guitar and a Stetson ever did.
