  1. As a whole, it's not one of their best records, considering the size of their discography, but it's not a bad little record. Fans will like it since the band is still shining as a tight unit and hasn't lost a step musically.
  2. Beneath their notorious humour, 11th studio album Coaster is less angry than previous political witch hunts, but Fat Mike and co still love to offend.
  3. Coaster’s not exemplary, but it’s definitely a quality late-career entry in NOFX’s increasingly uniform catalogue.
  4. Despite these touches, musically NOFX are pretty much doing the same thing they always have.

Hefe starts the show on ‘We Called It America’ with a wild solo which took inspiration from and older song called ‘Fan Mail’. Mike, not to be outdone, hits you with a chunky bass riff on ‘The Quitter’. Smelly really shines on ‘Bruce, Eddie and Paul’ and ‘One Million Coasters’ showing you he’s still one of the best drummers in punk rock and in my personal opinion he’s one of the greatest drummers of all time. I absolutely love when Melvin graces a NOFX tune it’s probably why ‘Eddie, Bruce and Paul’ is one of my favorites along with the wild dueling guitar solos and that classic d-beat drumming style that Smelly has perfected and it’s a song about Iron Maiden so win win. If you love NOFX or just punk rock in general then give this record a try. Full Review »

El Hefe has really outdone himself on this album, and Mike's songwriting is as diverse and tight as ever. Not an instant classic, but El Hefe has really outdone himself on this album, and Mike's songwriting is as diverse and tight as ever. Not an instant classic, but compared to 99% of the other music you could listen to this is absolutely amazing stuff. It's impossible to compare to other NOFX albums at this point since it's still new to me, but my first impression is very positive. Of course it sounds a lot like their older stuff -- but it's the sound that they created themselves! If they drastically changed their style (a la Green Day) it would be a huge disappointment to me, and I've been a fan since the mid-90's. Full Review »
