DMB is one of my favorites so this grade is likely a bias grade. However when I compare this to other albums that are coming out I personally don't think it is too far off. Maybe you could drop it to 8 or 9. It is a very enjoyable listen almost from start to finish. Two songs were a little slow to grow on me but otherwise I love it. Here On Out, She, Again and Again, Black and Blue Bird and Do You Remember stand out as my favorites for this album. One nice twist is this album does contain at least a snippet of music from both Moore and Tinsley despite Moore's passing and Tinsley's departure. Collapse

At first I was extremely scared for Dave Matthews, he released some dongs early that i didn’t understand. Instead we could be see a Bruce like come back. But the odds are against it. Still this albums’ success should put Dave Matthews in the rock and roll hall of fame. It debuted at number one with no marketing, unlike Mr. West, who holds specials. Dave was the king of Rock for over 15 years he deserves recognition. Expand

The Story this Album have is beautiful and joyful indeed, from Birth to Adulthood were you hit with uncertainty and to growing and having family. Its a very bright and Cheerful album probably the best one i have listened yet. DMB indeed has a music style of their own and this Album is no exception. Expand

This is a better effort than their previous album from 6 years ago. It does not climb as high as Big Whiskey from 2009, and in my opinion none of these albums are as complete as the 90s albums. So I guess if I were to rank this album, it's their 5th best album out of 8...which when you put a number to it, doesn't make it seem good, but it does have some really nice highlights I thinkThis is a better effort than their previous album from 6 years ago. I've always thought the idea of you had potential to be a hit, we'll see if it gets released after these initial singles. Expand

A more mature and loose release that encompasses what the band has always sought to drive home: optimism in the face of adversity. Full of catchy riffs, loving imagery, and concert favorites.

The brilliance of this album is astounding! The album tells a story from birth to adulthood. The subtlety of “Here On Out” to the driving sound of “She” and the festival feel of “Can’t Stop” brings together decades of excellence. The new album speaks to the base of Dave Matthews Band and welcomes a new generation of potential fans. In a cynical world this album brings hope and love.

Good album from a band that is past their prime. Oh, how I long for the days of Before These Crowded Streets and Crash. This newest effort does seem more inspired than the last two efforts but i don't see DMB climbing back to the level of their early years' energy and fervor.

Dave Matthews Band sounds best when it’s weird; the bummer on these songs is how bored the band sounds. But even as a cadre of producers smoothes out the band’s crunchiest tendencies, glimpses of the DMB’s ambitious musicianship shine through. These outliers aren’t always successful.

Mr. Matthews has decided he’s not going to be the grumpy old man he sings about in Come Tomorrow, but he doesn’t sugarcoat things either; each song notes the fears and sorrows it’s determined to overcome. The music does that, with consolation in its melodies and a life force in its rhythms.

Without Tinsley nor the late LeRoi Moore, Dave Matthews Band doesn't seem as loopy or rangy as it did in its prime, yet this leaner sound suits a middle-aged Matthews who is comfortable in his skin yet restless in his mind.
