Sonically more varied than their past albums. When it's good, it's spectacular. Wild Heart in particular is just gorgeous. It's also nice having the vocals back front and center. There are occasional missteps (like the appearance of the dreaded click percussion track on Rose of Sharon/Darkness Visible). But overall I've found it worth listening and listening to.

Compared to recent efforts from the group, this album feel's refreshing. Unfortunately though this album could still get lost pretty easily in any FM adult contemporary station.

My girlfriend and I love this album. We found a song that just instantly made us both want it to be our first song to dance to when we are married. A song that gets us in the mood. While the other songs are just great songs to listen to. Sure I miss the old Mumford and Sons like some of us do, but I don`t mind the changes that have happened so far.

If this was th debut album of any other group, that group would never be heard from again. The whole is smaller than the sum of the parts here. Each song on its own is pleasant, if not memorable. I went into delta not knowing quite what to expect. Considering just how much of a departure wilder mind was from their first 2 albums i simply wasn't sure. This album is not one to listen to in a rush. This album grows on you and i absolutely love it now. Expand

Not a solid album, not good, full of fillers and only one good song. This same-sounding album doesn't deserve to top the charts.

Lyrics and tempo make Delta easy listening and yet provocative. A nice break from some of the more frenetic music nowadays, and yet not Eyeore style indie music with lots of navel-gazing and nonsense. Marcus Mumford leads vocals and shows a wide range, making the album interesting beginning to end. The live show promises to be interesting with the orchestra and alternative stage set up.

Delta is the sound of a band presenting their Kid A without having made their OK Computer. Good but not great and one hell of a missed opportunity. For a band known for their no frills, band to the front live performances I fear this will all get lost in translation. Would you ever imagine M&S even considering using auto-tune? I didn't think so

The same soulful, emotional and meaningful lyrics you loved from the previous Mumford and Sons' albums. With a sound, that's electrifying, energetic and soulful. Delta is everything I love about this band.

Delta is the pinnacle of the bands re-invention of themselves. With flawless songwriting throughout, and stunning production from Paul Epworth, Mumford and Sons fourth album finds a perfect balance of the sound they have created over the years.

Another solid album, though not as good as babel and sigh no more. They still have some great tracks on this album, even if all of them aren't fantastic.

The Mumford and Sons we knew and loved from earlier this decade is gone. The band is now stadium pop, with all it's cringe. So long Mumford. I guess I'll continue to listen to Sigh No More and Babel, and wish the next album they release returns to their roots.

Delta officially takes Mumford and Sons away from the refreshing, up-tempo, banjo-driven songs we’ve all come to know and love, with Guiding Light being pretty much the sole exception. Yes, there is some build up in the songs as we are used to from Mumford, but not nearly as much as in their golden days.

The band claims this album is very close to themselves, which is probably the reason for it being more of an emotional journey through the lyrics than an album aimed to please the charts. This is bold and brave, but also takes away some of the Mumford and Sons magic.

Delta provides Mumford & Sons a wide range of inventive expressions, allowing them to stay true to their essence: blending the rustic quality of their past with a more majestic approach that underscores the heavier themes of the record. [30 Nov 2018, p.49]

Delta reveals layers few would have thought they had. Often though, these moments of interest get flattened by a wave of arena-ready bombast. [Jan 2019, p.108]

An album in which he and his reformed jug-band compatriots paradoxically reach for a musical approach both more complex and more approachable, instead landing squarely in the realm of mediocrity.
