Disco Volador feels like a journey into a world undiscovered, without ever feeling too alien.

These kids know exactly what they want to do and they have the skills and imagination to make it work like an improbable magic trick. Which is what a band needs to beat the sophomore slump as decisively as they do here.

The Orielles succeed in painting a vivid world of colour and flavour to get lost in.

If you’re in the right mood, it’s a fun slice of cosmic silliness that absolutely deserves to be packed away in your coolbox and brought out, nicely chilled, in approximately five months’ time. However, if your vibe is even slightly off then it can quickly become annoying in that subtle way that’s hard to register at first, but soon makes itself felt.

Suggest the euphoria of whooshing through infinite space past astral displays of imagined beauty via a blend of disco funk, dream pop, electronic exotica and '70s highlife. [Apr 2020, p.33]

Though the band's sound is distinctive and Disco Volador isn't overshadowed by its vast lineup of influences, the album will appeal to music geeks who enjoy guessing the sonic predecessors of modern indie bands.

What we all need is a great new rock band that draws on a forgotten corner of the music of yore, and The Orielles definitely could be that band – but there’s nothing here that will make you put away your old records just yet.

The density of the production occasionally subsumes their appealing vocal melodies and fails to mask a lack of emotional punch that lyrical anxieties about the planet’s future can’t provide.

Totalmente recomendado.

A hole pleasure. "Disco Volador" is tasty, serious, interesting, emotional, tropical and entertaining. The Orielles have made once again an achievement of a project that explores a very well-focused thesis in the spatial, existence and the pleasure of the superficiality. A body and a soul carefully well constructed. "Disco Volador" merges genres as the Psychedelic, Disco, Ambient, Funk and some Groovy without risking the Indie Rock style of the band that will not take too long to win the massive acclamation of young and adults. There's so much wisdom in the technique and so much meat in the essence that the geniality of The Orielles and their music can be tasted. Fully recommended.
