Rousing sedated melodies under a blanket of distortion. [Mar 2019, p.99]

One is never quite sure what direction Lawrie is going to head; all that's a given is that it's always a direction worth following, and Exploding Head Syndrome holds true to that theory.

Musically not that dissimilar to Pete Kember's work as E.A.R. or Randall Nieman's Fuxa, it's a far cry from The Telescopes' noisier excursions and for all its sinister overtones, actually proves quite a soothing listen in the right context.

There's nothing eruptive here: effects-drenched guitars, synths and electronics conjure a hushed, hypnotic ebb and flow that's bleakly comforting if over familiar. [Mar 2019, p.34]
