Q MagazineDec 8, 2014The greatest family jam you'll ever hear and an absolutely essential album. [Jan 2015, p.132]
-
Dec 2, 2014Richard’s “One Life at a Time” is roots-rock for the barroom, and Linda simply shimmers on the folk lament “Bonny Boys.” Kami’s buoyant “Careful” proves she’s the pop singer of the bunch. Zak gives “Root So Bitter” some pluck and pickup, while Jack’s “At the Feet of the Emperor” is a sumptuous instrumental. Teddy steals the show with the title track.

-
UncutNov 17, 2014It ends up being a more nuanced guide to the Thompsons' flawed but just-about functioning dynamic, divorces, remarriages and all. [Dec 2014, p.82]
-
Jan 15, 2015Family functions more like a sampler than as an in-depth insight into their collective prowess.
-
Nov 20, 2014The album’s 10 tracks are likely to frustrate as much as excite Thompson loyalists.
