    Not sure how or why this album has such great reviews. I found it incredibly boring and dull. I miss the pop Taylor with huge songs. This album could have been made by anyone.

    This "alternative" sound is so incredibly tired. So uncharacteristic of Taylor too, and she does it no justice at all. Her squeaky voice really doesn't suit songs that sound like attempts on writing for Lana or Billie. Overall I'm left feeling bored and disappointed. Taylor should stick to pure pop.

The slender man aesthetic and the outdated magical childish Disney sound of the album seem to clash every time Swift hits a flat note. Everything in this album was already expected and there’s no growth from the last album by Tayler. This album shouldn’t be doing so well, it’s success is only contributed to super fans who stick with Tayler through anything. After the album 1989, Taylers albums have been too generic and made to be repeated on the radio, but there’s nothing special actually in the music, just things you’ve basically heard before. All in all, I don’t suggest this album and would hope for biased reviewers to rate this album like me… Expand

    It's really bad - sounds like offbrand indie. Almost the entire album is so forgettable, there's not a single identifiable feature that makes "good".
    Only good songs are: exile (solely because the harmony is great), the 1 (has a few good lines) and august (there's a certain feel to it).
    Cardigan sounds like someone used a neural net on a set of folk albums

    These 16 tracks (17 on the deluxe version) play out quite pleasurably in their entirety, the joins between Swift, Dessner and Antonoff ultimately only of niche interest. But Swift’s powerful songs reach their climaxes with bittersweet orchestrations, rather than blows to the solar plexus or a ringing in the ears. Everything hovers; little truly lands.
