Good Charlotte have written an album for the modern era: honest, powerful and, most importantly, real. [22 Sep 2018, p.54]

On Generation RX, Good Charlotte regain their connection with the Youth they claimed to be an Authority on by speaking to them, not at them. Funnily enough, focusing on darkness and dealing with it has provided them with a light to chase and pushed the gleam at the end of their tunnel farther into the distance.

Generation Rx can feel a little bit deliberate: it may be little more than half an hour but it feels a bit longer, because the tempos are moderate and the melodies studiously avoid effervescence. All the same, Generation Rx winds up showing a way forward for Good Charlotte.

The album's title is a nod to America's addiction to prescription drugs, while the 21st-century pop production gloss of Actual Pain, for example, hides an inner turmoil. [Oct 2018, p.111]

There's little subtlety displayed in their mission, and not much in the way of memorable tunes either. [Sep 2018, p.90]

Good Charlotte know how to write a hit and a hook but their honorable intentions to be memorable fall short.

Solid album from GC, definitely better than their previous Youth Authority record. Shadowboxer, Leech, Prayer and Better Demons are brilliant.

Not a bad album. I'd probably give it higher but they decided to again sing about California. I'm so sick of songs about LA and/or California.
