    Frisell is a genius guitarist, yet Jazz is stuck in a rut here between Blue Note and indie labels, and between its different variousFrisell is a genius guitarist, yet Jazz is stuck in a rut here between Blue Note and indie labels, and between its different various encampments. Frisell is very tasteful at a time when turntables were cool, or playing rare groove funk. This is clearly more 80's than 90's in Jazz circles. And Frisell has worked with Zorn, who has incorporated ideas ranging from Xenakis, to Death Metal. It is evident Bill does better as 80's Jazz than 90's Jazz, though.… Full Review »
