One of the most paint by numbers teen pop albums I've heard in years. Production falls into all the 2015-2019 pop cliches. "Mmm-mmm"s and "Na Na Na"s abound among generalized uninteresting lyrics on every track except "Sad Forever", the only slightly bearable song on here. Lauv's vocal flourishes and overused falsetto became grating after 1 song. Not a nice way to spend my morning.

There may be six different versions of Lauv pulling the strings, but in the end, they all sound alike.

[“Modern Loneliness”] is quietly anthemic; an ode to the contradictions of contemporary culture and the cognitive dissonance of wanting to feel better but not doing anything to get there. It’s the perfect conclusion to an album which speaks to the various anxieties of both its subject and its listeners.

Ambition aplenty, but spread too thinly. [Apr 2020, p.111]
